That’s a wrap on PA Week! 🩺

Our Class of 2028 had a great PA Week! Students delivered treats to local PAs to thank them for their service and the impact they make in our communities. They also spent Friday morning at MOC-FV Elementary teaching fifth graders about the PA profession!

Committee Position: Social Events Committee

PCE: Emergency Department Medical Technician

Why PA?: “I want to be a comfort and a problem-solver in patients’ moments of unknowns. Health means everything- I want to meet the individual where they’re at to understand what they’re experiencing while helping them improve. PAs have flexibility to spend more time with patients and help improve access to healthcare. What a gift of a career!”

Why NWC?: “The family-like atmosphere and the fact that your peers and faculty would do anything to help you succeed!”

Advice for someone applying to PA School: “Shadow providers to see all the specialties you can and to learn the profession! Try to gain meaningful patient care experiences to strengthen your healthcare diversity and passion.”

Advice for someone beginning PA School: “Take a breath! You are meant to be here. Set yourself up with a supportive environment and people to cheer you on when things get hard.”

What do you wish you knew before starting PA School?: “Remember it’s all about balance- don’t burn yourself out! Find your way to study and to recharge when things get tough- you’ll need those skills down the road.”

Most memorable experience in the program (so far): “Meeting our mentors and having group class events! We’ve gone to play pickleball together and have had potlucks. Community is everything!” taken in Northwestern College, Iowa by @nwc_pa

“On my interview day the staff made me feel like they truly care, even when I blanked during my interview due to stress. Plus, the campus is beautiful!”

Neenah Stinson, NWC PA27 |📍 Racine, WI | 🎓 University of Wisconsin – La Crosse | 📚 Major in Biomedical Sciences, Minor in Chemistry

PCE: CNA in a skilled nursing facility and memory care center

Why PA?: “I have many experiences in my personal medical history involving PAs and learned a lot about the profession that way. The timeline, life balance, level of knowledge, and patient encounters were the big things that led me to pursuing this path.”

Why NWC?: “On my interview day the staff made me feel like they truly care, even when I blanked during my interview due to stress. Plus, the campus is beautiful!”

Advice for someone applying to PA School: “Just do it. If you’ve met the requirements go ahead and apply. There is always going to be someone with more PCE hours and better grade so you cannot limit yourself based on others.”

Advice for someone beginning PA School: “BREATHE!!! Not everything you see online is a true reflection of PA school. Plan small things with friends that you can look forward to and give yourself a break from school.”

What do you wish you knew before starting PA School?: “I wish I remembered right away that PA school is doable. The first few weeks can be stressful, but remembering that I am here for a reason and many have done it before me helped pull me out of the stress.”
