Adam Chila PR 80 —-> 82.4 (maybe 84)

Adam came in with a little bit of an overactive arm and downward plane with his torso leading to decreased velo and his stuff being a little bit sub par. However he was an All state pitcher this year and was dominant for Immaculate high school so adding velo would only help him moving forward.

Our goal first was to get him to feel the dead arm meaning a relaxed arm and pulling through with the torso. We programmed split stance with a dead arm feel meaning relaxed at his side.

Another drill we used was the Kershaw drill. Chil had a very good turn but wasn’t keeping the hips closed long enough to support the dead arm as he went down the mound. Adding a little bit of a forward posture and tilt back towards second base allowed for him to get the arm up and through consistently leading to a major PR.

Adam is now sitting low 80s and will be graduating in the 2027 class. Looking for a home in 2027.

Robert Durkin 90.1 —-> 91.7.

Durk came in with a little bit of a command issue and still somewhat recovering from a shoulder injury in the Spring. My first goal for him was to improve the direction and get in the strike zone more consistently. As you can see in the first couple slides there’s a pretty clear shrinking of the back leg leading to him having to spin his torso to throw it hard. This also gave him trouble when trying to locate and was the first thing I wanted to work on.

Secondly I noticed that he wasn’t relaxing as much as he could into the pec and letting the arm be dead meaning he was using his arm to throw the baseball instead of the immense amount of force he was generating with his lower half and torso in the throw.

So we got to work and started seeing some of the results immediately. The big thing was the Kikuchi drill shown in slide 5. I love this drill to improve direction because it forces us to start the drift and follow it as opposed to being able to shrink and spin with the torso. This lead to his missed being more concise and around the zone as opposed to missing all over the place. We kept feeding this drill and he started dialing in.

The second drill I really like to use to get the dead arm is a figure 8 rocker. We used this in order to get him to feel the arm relax and use his torso to turn instead of spin. The feedback was immediate every throw he made that was overactive with the arm would be felt in this drill and led to him feeling the dead arm.

The last slide is 91.7 a 1.6 mph PR for Durk. A combination of the work he put in throughout the last 4 weeks.

Robert so Far in the CCBL this summer is pitching to a 3.8 ERA with 10Ks in 9 innings still a little but of improvement to make but were trending in the right direction.

Day 27: Abysmal performance today only got up to 96 but the average was 92 so not bad there. However the top end had gone down significantly can’t find the feeling anymore so searching for it again. I started working on an actual swing instead of just a EV maxing swing and my distance started to go up a little so that was good I guess. Still kind of pissed ngl but we live and learn.

No throwing today.

Starting to get pretty busy in the facility so just need to start editing earlier in the day.

Will be better tomorrow. by @nxtleveltrainingct

Tyler Dielsi: Another PR today for Tyler reaching 82 today in a bullpen. This was a 5mph gain in 2 months for Tyler and we’re still going up!! A few things that stood out to me initially were his arm action and the inability to hold a load down the mound which was causing him to have severe leaks in his kinetic chain.

Using our initial eval I saw some pretty severe mobility issues through the spine and through his upper body. Immediately we addressed this through mobility work and 2 months later things are starting to open up giving Tyler the ability to access deeper ranges of motion.

In terms of the throw, the biggest thing for Tyler was learning how to stay closed and access those deeper ranges of motion. We used a few different drills to do this but the one that allowed him to feel a deeper flip up was the 10 toes drill as you can see in the slides. This allowed him to figure out how to sequence better up the chain and allow for his engine to drive the throw (meaning spine and pelvis) and allow his arm to whip through as a byproduct of him allowing the center of his body to do the work.

Tyler will started pitchers and catchers this week an he’s in a great spot to dominate this year during his high school season. Congrats on the PR Tyler!!

If you want results like this, don’t wait until the middle of your season to get better. DM or fill out the questionnaire in my bio to learn more! Don’t suck this season, get better!! by @nxtleveltrainingct
