Just because you want to help someone doesn’t mean you have to take full responsibility for solving their problem.

Care deeply. Just know where your responsibility ends and theirs begins.

You can care without carrying.

What's wrong with just BEING?
Seriously.
Like why do we always have to be DOING?

If I lie in bed a little longer than usual, apparently I'm “bed rotting.”

If I have a hobby, now I gotta figure out how to make money from it.

And every experience somehow has to become content.

Can we just be and enjoy our lives anymore?

Life is moving so fast, and somehow we've bought into this idea that if we aren't producing, we ain't $#!T.

We're constantly trying to monetize, maximize, or document everything.

When was the last time you actually slowed down enough to enjoy a meal? I'm talking about tasting the flavors, appreciating the textures, actually enjoying the experience of eating.

Instead, we're scarfing down lunch between meetings or drinking a protein shake because we gotta hit our macros and keep it moving.

We're human BEINGS.

Not human doings, no matter what “the man” tries to convince us of.

You don't have to produce something every minute of your existence. And you definitely don't have to justify taking time away to just BE. by @nylahassellcoaching

Admitting you're overwhelmed doesn't mean you're not ready.
You can be completely capable of handling a bigger role and still need help finding your footing in it.

The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Don't be afraid to raise your hand.

“Should my company be paying for my coaching?”

Fair question. And if your employer offers leadership coaching, absolutely explore that option.

But sometimes the things you most want to work through aren't limited to your current role or organization.

Maybe you're questioning your next career move, how you want to lead, or what success looks like for you now.

Your professional development doesn't have to depend entirely on what your employer is willing to fund.

If you're weighing your options and wondering whether coaching is worth the personal investment, let's talk. by @nylahassellcoaching

When you work in PR, you're used to helping other people tell their stories and communicate their value.

But when it comes to articulating your own contributions and impact, especially when you're thinking about your next career move? That can be surprisingly difficult for many.

Especially when the things you're really good at come so naturally that you don't even think to mention them.

I loved helping this client turn that same skill toward themself. ❤️

Who knew the mere mention of a giant countdown clock would have so many of us breaking out in hives all these years later?” 😂

I was catching up with a former colleague last week, and we got to reminiscing about the giant digital countdown clock our leaders installed above our workspace as we prepared to launch Red Bull TV.

We were doing something we’d never done before, on an aggressive timeline, and that clock was looming over us the entire time.

I’m sure the intention was to build excitement and anticipation.

Instead, it became a glowing anxiety machine, ticking away above our heads while we were already working non-stop to hit the deadline.

To this day, mention that clock to anyone who worked beneath it and you’re sure to get an eye roll and maybe some unhinged laughter. It’s good that we can laugh about it now.

But it’s a clear example of how what leaders intend and what their teams actually experience can be two VERY different things. by @nylahassellcoaching

Are you collaborating or stalling?

If you have a decision to make, do you consult your team, then a few trusted colleagues, then sleep on it and circle back for a couple more opinions?

You might be dealing with a lack of self-trust.

Don't get me wrong, getting external input is smart. But at some point, you have to trust your own judgment.

Here's a question worth asking yourself:

Am I looking for information I don't have, or reassurance that I'm making the right call?

Knowing when to stop asking and start deciding is part of leading at this level.

If this is something you're navigating, let's talk.

WFH Perks as a black woman in corporate = not fighting to keep my coworkers hands out of my hair and explaining that I didn’t get a haircut when I just changed the style.

Have you been excited by your new idea but nervous when it came to present it to senior leadership, only to have your nerves take over and end up overexplaining everything while somehow underselling the idea?

Ugh. We've all been there.

I was talking with a client recently about the 3-2-1 method. It's really useful when you've got limited time with an executive and need to get to the point.

(3) State the problem in 3 sentences.

(2) Offer 2 possible solutions.

(1) Make 1 strong recommendation you can stand behind. And know why.

When we're nervous, we tend to fill the silence with more words. And sometimes, the more we explain, the harder we make it for someone to understand what we're actually asking them to consider.

The 3-2-1 method gives you a way to organize your thoughts before you walk into the room.

Maybe it'll work for you, too.
