Yesterday was a special day in Albany! It was an honor to present the 2026 Commissioner’s Awards, recognizing 19 members of my @nysdcjs team for their exceptional service to the agency and their fellow New Yorkers. A lot of our work is anonymous, but often, the most important work is anonymous. I’m thrilled to work at an agency where we can take the time to recognize each other and to lift each other up. Congratulations to this year’s award recipients, all nominated by their peers for the recognition. taken in Alfred E. Smith Building by @nysdcjs

Behind every ring of this bell was a young person who needed help and a team determined to find them.

This week’s three-day Long Island Missing Child Rescue Operation located 34 children and teens, with partners working together to support their safety and stability.

Proud to co-lead this effort with OCFS and the National Child Protection Task Force, with support from New York State Police and nearly 40 agencies and organizations.

A DNA lead. A 30-year-old case. An arrest.

For Forensic Science Week, we’re showing how familial searching helped investigators revisit evidence from a 1995 sexual assault in Brooklyn. DCJS reviewed and approved the search request, and prosecutors and detectives followed the lead to a Bronx man who has now been charged.

Hear from the Brooklyn DA’s Office about how the case moved forward. by @nysdcjs

Retired Deputy Chief A.J. DeAndrea personally responded to three school shootings. Then, gun violence hit home.

His daughter, Madalena, shared the text messages they exchanged as she hid in the attic of the Borderline Bar & Grill during the 2018 Thousand Oaks shooting, and how lessons she learned growing up as the daughter of a police officer helped save her life. Together, they delivered a powerful keynote on preparedness, survival, and healing. taken in Empire State Plaza Convention Center by @nysdcjs
