So I did this thing….

I wrote and recited a poem that honors DC graduates. And every time I watch this video I can’t help but think of Proverbs 18:16.

I never knew just how that verse would play out in my life. But I see it. I can’t help but be in awe of God, His plan, and His direction.

Sometimes you have to do it tired, friend.

But by the end of it….you’ll be glad you did.

This is my second time at @outdooryogasf and it didn’t disappoint.

Note: This experience normally takes place at the beach but it was a little too windy this day so we transitioned to Hellman Hollow Picnic Area in San Francisco

I heard someone say “stop saving your life for one day.”

And when I tell you..that statement punched me in the gut…and all I could say was ‘wow.’

Even now…it’s ringing in my ears.

Because the reality is…..yesterday was a gift but at the time we knew not what it would become….and now all we have is today.

Nothing past this moment is a guarantee.

And yet we put so much joy, expectation, hope in seconds unseen

Instead of living fully

….going, doing, saying, being, exploring, discovering….

choosing to say ‘yes’ to the present

We often times are living for tomorrow when today is already calling us to show up …because it is worthy of our attention.

It’s worthy of the trip you want to take, the conversation you want to have, the feelings you want to express, the piece of art you want to make.

Today deserves all of you…

This was my first time on @storybookmaze trolley. And let me tell you something… it was a joyful experience.

Ms. Maze was in community with @charmcity_cc and @emersoncollective at the @baltimorebookfestival putting smiles on everyone’s faces, including mine. Regardless of your age…you were informed and entertained!

Ms. Wanda Durant is a treasure…do you hear me?!

Not only is she a joy to be around but she is inspiring as well.

She recently joined @charmcity_cc in community with @emersoncollective for Reading Is Freedom at @baltimorebookfestival

I watched as she engaged with students, educators, authors, and other community members during her Stoop Read session and her stroll through the book festival.

She spoke about her love for reading and how important it was when she was growing up and how it was ever present when she was raising her sons.

Highkey, CD’s contributed to the no skip generation. Your body of work needed to be an experience from top to bottom because who was about to be changing CDs left and right lol?!!? After you got done listening to one CD…you put it back in your CD book holder….and put in another!! OMG….what a time.

I’m so sad that newer car model don’t offer this…what a dream…that was once a reality😩.!

SundaY is an Oakland-based singer, songwriter, and performer whose music blends contemporary R&B, soul, and hip-hop influences with effortless vocal warmth and emotional honesty. Nytesia Ross is an award-winning poet and storyteller who has performed nationwide, from New York to California, including at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
