POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
This fall, 𝗢𝗮𝗸𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 is pleased to present 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙎𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙨, 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆'𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘂𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝗼 𝗲𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮, featuring the world premiere of her enigmatic and ethereal film 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩'𝘴 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘦. The exhibition unfolds across both of our gallery sites, featuring recent films, a new body of intricately embroidered drawings, and a series of richly printed film stills.

One of Barry's defining concerns is the recovery of voices and histories that have been silenced. Through phantasmagoric narratives that weave together folklore, oral histories, ecology, and archival research, Barry reveals the persistence of cultural memory despite histories of erasure and repression. Her hallucinatory and fantastical works foreground languages and other forms of cultural knowledge that have been suppressed, building new cinematic worlds for these voices to resurface.

𝘚𝘪𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘚𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘴 is curated by Séamus Kealy with the support of Jenifer Papararo and Natalie Stone. Related programs are curated and supported by Isabella Springett and Papararo. Barry’s exhibition is financially made possible with the support of Culture Ireland.

Oakville Galleries mourns the passing of Salah Bachir, a Canadian entrepreneur, art collector, and philanthropist whose generosity and commitment to the arts have left a lasting legacy at our institution.

A valued patron of the Galleries, Salah generously lent his remarkable collections of works by Andy Warhol and Betty Goodwin to Oakville Galleries and supported our programming through his sponsorship of a video salon in the early 2000s. In recognition of his contributions, one of our exhibition rooms in Gairloch Gardens bears his name, honouring his enduring support of the Galleries and the arts.

We are deeply grateful for Salah’s generosity and the lasting impact of his contributions to Oakville Galleries and the broader arts community. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Last Thursday, Oakville Galleries came together with an extraordinary community of advocates, sponsors, and donors for 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗬: 𝗗𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘀.

Set against the beautiful lakeside landscape of Gairloch Gardens, it was an evening of art, conversation, celebration, fun, and fundraising. Together, we raised funds to support the Galleries' exhibition program as well as launch 𝗔𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝘀, a new youth art education initiative designed to bring the Galleries into classrooms and classrooms into the Galleries.
