When Accra Surprised Me with a Taste of Home 🇬🇭🍚🔥

So today, something truly unexpected happened.

We were craving supper and didn’t know where to go. Someone suggested a place called Mbayaya, and to our surprise, Google Maps showed it was just a short walk away. So we decided to take a 15-minute stroll through Osu, yes, I’m in Accra.

And then… boom! We walked into Mbayaya Kebab Spot — and guess what? It’s the same Mbayaya we all know from Tamale! Right here in the heart of Accra! 😲🔥

We greeted them in Dagbanli, and they responded with warm smiles and brotherhood. We explained we were looking for food — and instead of just directions, the Alhaji there pulled out chairs for us to sit. Next thing we knew, a plate of rich, flavorful, local-style jollof with dawadawa and meat was served before us. 🥹🍛

I can’t explain how much this meant. The aroma, the taste, the memories — it all took me straight back home. It’s been ages since I had real Northern jollof made with dawadawa like this. This wasn’t just a meal — it was home on a plate. 🏡❤️

A massive thank you to Alhaji and all the amazing brothers at Mbayaya Kebab Spot in Osu. Your hospitality and love were unmatched. And the best part? They were beyond excited to meet the OBL Studios team — the folks behind some of the best films out of Northern Ghana! 🎬📽️

If you’re in Accra and you’re missing home — or you just want to taste what proper northern jollof with soul tastes like — head to Mbayaya in Osu. You’ll thank me later. 🙌
