A new HYROX bromance? 🤔

4 weeks ago, two mates of mine were looking were looking for the right partner to take on the HYROX MEN'S DOUBLES in Sydney. One had notched up multiple races competing in the mixed and solo category; the other hadn't but was in the best shape of his life and was keen to test himself.

They both wouldn't agree it was easy but was definitely a worthy pursuit and for first timer Paulo, something he's keen to do again.

Did I hear somewhere, they are chasing an age group flag in Melbourne 2026? by @obstaclecoursecoaching

HYROX26 PRO LEGEND!!!

You can tell by the smile on his face that this isn't Tom's first rodeo. He's been grinding away at hybrid racing for 8 years now, putting in hours into this sport that he absolutely loves and TBH, makes it look easy as he glides around the Syd course at an average 3.37/km pace.

From competing at world's in 2025 whilst travelling for 12+ months, Tom still managed to find time to prep for not just world's but a whole list of global events and more often than not, improving of his times as he went. He's a role model for us all that you can enjoy yourself and be healthy too.

Tom finish the Sydney HYROX Pro wave with a sub66 65.56, improving in all his weaknesses and sets his sights on the next goal (marathon or mountain) which will help develop his base further but also ensure his longevity in the sport with his diverse range of soon to be accomplishments.

Well done Tommy, keep doing life which is what you do best 🙌🏼 by @obstaclecoursecoaching

HYROX26 WOMEN SINGLES

Shout of to Zoe for her phenomenal performance in Sydney this weekend, finishing her first open solos race in 91min.

Zoe is one of many athletes juggling a full-time job as well as competitive soccer throughout the week. The sled was always a challenge and after a dedicated 10week program, its now one of her strengths.

Time to reflect the journey and enjoy the post race feels and then look towards those mini-goals to set her up for HYROX27.

SYD HYROX 26
OPEN MEN'S ✌🏼
59.30

Breaking the hr mark with a PB is a great accomplishment for these 2 ratbags considering a full social calendar and a hospital visit 4 days ago.

Next year watch out.
After a brief break and time for reflection, goals will be set and we're on the hunt for more minutes in BRIS/SYD.

A special mentioned to our amazing cheer squad Kat, Caroline & Tayden. You could be heard throughout both arenas which got us and many more people through a tough race; you guys are unreal 🫶🏼 taken in Sydney Showground by @obstaclecoursecoaching

IVORY ROCK SPARTAN 10KM SUPER

A cracking finish to a week full of OCR, NINJA & Modern Pentathlon competition.

With athletes flocking from all over the world for the @ocrcwc , AU @theuipm & NINJA competitions, it was great to see these familiar communities collide in one spot for the growth of the sport.

From judging events to finally racing, it was great to finally get out on course, push to the front and never look back, coming home with 1st place in my age category and 10th overall. A fantastic result when life is so busy and my own training is limited, that I can still make an impact with the time that I have, keep growing physically and stay competitive.

An event I'm glad I got to experience and confirm I'm in fine form leading up to the SYD @hyroxanz in 6 weeks time taken in Ivory's Rock by @obstaclecoursecoaching

A huge congratulations to OCC athlete Rob Bolton for his 5th place effort in the UTCM 100km in Chaing Mai last weekend. Rob came out strong and unbeknownst to him was coming 2nd up until the 80km mark, and finished 5th overall which is a huge achievement.

Rob has been living in Bali for the best part of 2 years, which is mostly flat, and until the last few months was training for HYROX.

He then threw his hat into the world of ultra trail running, competing in a 55km Puhket trail run which was more like a vertical crawl, navigating through harsh, muddy terrain, like nothing he had experienced before. It took a toll on his body however taught his mind how hard he could push when he had to.

Well done Rob! You've come so far mate from the OCR lockdown race simulation on Sydney's northern beaches. The future holds many more adventures and achievements for you my man 🙌🏼 by @obstaclecoursecoaching

Wow, what a weekend! My goal this year was to achieve a @spartanraceau Trifecta medal, which I did in May, with friends. Then I decided to ramp up my training and complete another trifecta on my own this time! Thanks to @obstaclecoursecoaching for coaching me and getting me there! It’s been a ride! I did it, not quite the time I was hoping for but I didn’t have to pull out despite the heat! I am pretty excited for the next one, let’s get stronger leading up to in a few months! Going to potentially attempt a Hurricane Heat as as well. You only live once, right!? 😅 thanks also to @martikafleming for watching all my kids and being a super mumma and friend! Couldn’t have done it without you! 💜 watch this space for 2026 @obstaclecoursecoaching by @obstaclecoursecoaching

SYD HYROX MEN'S DOUBLES 🔥

We cracked the 60!

Ever since my first HYROX in Sydney back in 2023, finishing in 61min with @avulkan going sub 60min has always been a goal of mine. In 2024 I seized the opportunity to test my own individual efforts coming short by a few minutes and now in 2025 my mind shifted towards family and fun, competing with partner in crime @katrina__sloane

However a few weeks prior to Australia's biggest HYROX to date, a client of mine was in need of a doubles partner so I thought 'why not?' and I backed up after Kat & I's impressive 76min mixed doubles with @_morgansingleton in the mens.

Morgan came to me in the second half of 2024 looking for a challenge, after years competing on track and about to enter the work force. After competing in Melb HYROX in late 2024 he was hooked and in the off season we packed on a significant amount of size, strength and station efficiency, and whilst balancing new work commitments, he booked himself in for the Sydney HYROX singles and doubles (the latter as abit of fun). Unfortunately due to injury his partner had to pull out so he asked me. It was always about fun but the closer we got, the more I saw the potential to crack that infamous 1hr mark. We had our hurdles but the rest is history and now we set our sights on future races and potential collaborations, levelling up in the men's doubles pro division (that I'm yet to share with Morgs 😆).

Special thanks to Morgan for allowing me to share this dream goal, but also my beautiful wife Kat for her enthusiasm and energy cheering on the sideline. No one does it better and you definitely contribute to our push when it got dark out there. Also @michael_referralguru for your push in keeping us on pace for our goal. I have no doubt without both of your support, our goal would of slipped away by a mere few seconds, so thank you both 🙏🏻 taken in Homebush Sydney Show Ground by @obstaclecoursecoaching

I did it! I popped my @hyroxanz cherry — and I got to do it with my one and only Timmy 💪❤️

What a race! We tackled Mixed Doubles head-on and pushed through 76 minutes of pure grit, landing 26th out of 120 in our age group. Still buzzing from it all!

We stuck to our strategy, stayed strong through every station, and left it all out there on the course. Tim burst out the gate like a rabbit, and I found myself chasing him down — “pace setting,” he claims. 😅 When I finally caught up, all I could manage was a breathless, “too fast!”

There were so many special moments, but the absolute highlight was crossing that finish line together — sweaty, breathless, overwhelmed, sharing an emotional hug and a kiss, seeing the joy in Tim’s face when we saw our time.

Tim, thank you for being my rock through this whole journey. For your patience during training, your unwavering belief in me, and your endless love and support. I love you more than words can say.

To our amazing kids, friends, and family cheering us on — your support meant the world. We felt every shout, every clap, every bit of energy you sent our way.

Now it’s time to soak in the post-race glow and maybe even start dreaming up the next goal. Until then — stay strong, stay fit, and keep living life to the fullest. ❤️🏋️‍♀️🏃‍♀️✨

SYDNEY HYROX DOUBLES 2025 🏃‍♀️🏃🏼

Super proud of our efforts in our first HYROX doubles together, finish in 1h16m and 26th in age, far exceeding our expectations.

After a hot start we settled and held Kat's race pace on the runs and smashing the stations with our race plan. Kat has mentioned this is the hardest race she has ever competed in, finishing with nothing left in the tank.

I'm so proud of her efforts, pushing through discomfort, stitches since the third run and keeping up with an impressive pace. You truly were inspiring. I couldn't think of a better partner to compete with infront of our family and friends. taken in Homebush Olympic Stadium by @obstaclecoursecoaching

HYROX WORLDS 2025

Shout out to OCC champ Tom Latchford for his efforts reaching the heights of the HYROX World Championships.

Tom's relentless pursuit to push himself to the next level has seen him on numerous podiums in the past few years and now rewarded with a chance to throw down with the world's best in Chicage.

He's a model for anyone questioning whether they can reach such levels. He's hard work and consistency, following the @obstaclecoursecoaching formula has taken him from someone who does it for the love, to being a hybrid athlete who can climb mountains with the best, bang out a triathlon or OCR race...all within a short time frame. The amazing thing is he was able to train & level up to the pro weight for the Champs, whilst travelling through different gyms in Europe over the past 4 months.

Well done Tom! Keep inspiring and squeezing everything out of life. by @obstaclecoursecoaching
