@spartanraceau Picton Trifecta weekend done and dusted! 🔥

What a bloody weekend that was. Topping it all off today with the 21km beast MAN WAS THAT HARD!

We hit at least x5 as many hills as what we did yesterday and that sun was certainly blazzzzzin ☀️

I cannot thank the @cornerstone_gym Spartan team enough for having my back through this journey and especially @omarsammut for doing every single run sesh with me as my training buddy!

So stoked to come away with a win in the beast today it just topped off an already pretty perfect weekend 🫶

Here are 10 key things I learnt over the weekend:

1️⃣ The body really is strong enough to do what the mind tells it
2️⃣ To be a Spartan elite you have to become a full mountain goat
3️⃣ Picton is full of sharp bushes 😂
4️⃣ Running out of water in the 21km is actually the hardest part of the race
5️⃣ Make sure you have water to have after smashing an energy gel 🥵
6️⃣ Trail run shoe treads are ELITE thanks @brooksrunningau 🫶
7️⃣ Glide is the best thing ever invented to stop chafing
8️⃣ Carry a coke for mid race cravings 😂
9️⃣ Spartan competitors are so lovely and encouraging truly the coolest people!
1️⃣0️⃣ I want to go to the world OCR champs one day!!!!!

Swipe to see the battle scars 😆

SPARTAN DAY 1 🔥⚔️

Wow what a cracking but bloody hot day 🥵

First time racing as an individual in the age group category and had the best time but was certainly in the hurt locker the hills were much higher and longer than what I was expecting!!!

So stocked with my race times and the outcome of todays events.

🥇 1st in Age group 5km sprint
🥇 1st in Age group 10km Super (I promise I wasn’t the only one in this race 😂)

Also so bloody proud of the @cornerstone_gym crew for taking on the open we had some incredible times amongst the group.

Bring on the 21km beast tomorrow 🔥

Massive shout out to @obstaclecoursecoaching @timsloanefitness my Spartan coach for getting me race / most specifically run ready 🙏

And @mike.holt.creator for hunting me down to drag my butt across that finish line 🙏

I’ve always been a team sports athlete….

But this year it was my goal to work towards something bigger for myself, to push myself into something that’s uncomfortable when it comes to “competition” and really challenge my mind!

A few weeks ago I was chatting to my Spartan coach @timsloanefitness (yes coaches need coaches too) and he told me about this event and instantly I thought “ew that sounds disgusting…I have to do it” after a little bit of thought I decided register (less than 2 weeks prior to the event, lucky Spartan training crossed over quite well with it).

Initially I asked @mike.holt.creatorofthings to do it with me as a doubles partner because I thought he’d do a great job at dragging me along with his tough love 😂 after he notified me of his unavailability I knew this was a sign to compete as an individual (even though there were many awesome people around me who’d make a great doubles partner)

I had a ball and really found out what I was truly capable of

Bring on the next event / challenge 🔥🫶

The beautiful contrast between the stunning scenery and the very loud Hardstyle playing in my ear
