Great image of NGC 3628, The Hamburger Galaxy. processed by @Hansonastronomy1 with data collected by Martin Pugh from our ObsTech Observatory.

More from Mark below, "NGC 3628 is classed as an unbarred spiral galaxy 35 million light years away in Leo. It’s often referred to as the hamburger galaxy. I have to say if I’m going to eat a burger from fast food place it will be Culvers! And this one looks delicious, must be a bacon butter deluxe.

It’s also one of the galaxies in the Leo triplet and has a tidal tail that stretches 300,000 light years seen in a nice detail in this image. While classified as unbarred, there is some speculation that it is a barred galaxy due to the X shaped bulge in the central portion. Bar formation is often triggered by interaction with other galaxies, and 3628 is interacting with the other two galaxies in the triplet.

The galaxy features numerous dust lanes and several obvious regions of active star formation. There are many distant background galaxies throughout the image.

Data: Martin Pugh"

Beautiful view of NGC 3621 captured by @throughlightandtime from our ObsTech Observatory.

Mike said, "NGC 3621 is a spiral galaxy situated around 22 million light years away in the constellation of Hydra.

The galaxy is a pure disc type of galaxy and has not interacted with other galaxies. It is quite flat without a bulge in the center.

The galaxy is large in the field of view and presents numerous star forming regions and a bright central region. The galaxy is unusual as it appears to have a system of three black holes. One of the black holes is massive and is located at the center forming an active galactic nucleus despite the lack of a central bulge. The other two black holes are smaller and near the nucleus." by @obstechchile

Very interesting image captured by @GregTurgeon_astro from our ObsTech Observatory.

Greg had this to share about the photo, "Even with the CDK17 telescope these targets were small, so I’ve attempted to showcase them so you can see them better. Near the Carinae nebula in the southern skies you find on the left a star called AG Carinae. It can be seen with a glowing shell of dust and gas surrounding it. That shell is 5 light years across. The object on the right is a planetary nebula called Hoffleit 39, a shell of hydrogen gas surrounding a star. Shot with the PlaneWave CDK17 and the QHY600 in HOORGB." by @obstechchile

"CG30 | A Mountain of Gasses sculpted by a SuperNova.

These cometary globules are something like hoodoos. A hoodoo is a standing pillar that is a bit denser than the surrounding material so it stands up to the rain longer. In this case the winds of a supernova have blown the less dense material back first leaving the more dense peaks behind. This is one of a few CG objects that encircle a supernova in the Gum Nebula." by @obstechchile

Congratulations to Dana Patchick, Xavier Strottner, and Marcel Drechsler for their new planetary nebula discovery from our ObsTech Observatory! More from their team below.

NEW DISCOVERY: PATCHICK-STROTTNER-DRECHSLER 10

Discoverers: Dana Patchick, Xavier Strottner, Marcel Drechsler
  Catalog designation: PaStDr 10 / PNG 259.6-32.0
  Constellation: Pictor
  Diameter: 55 arc min
  Coordinates (J2000): 05:38:36.82 -52:16:54.50
  Image processing: Aygen Erkaslan
Data acquisition, data compilation, data preparation: APO Team & Aygen Erkaslan

We are delighted to publish the first color image of PaStDr 10 - a planetary nebula candidate officially accepted and registered by Pascal le Dû and Professor Quentin Parker.

How did we embark upon this journey ?

The endeavor of shooting PaStDr 10 started following a few emails exchanges between Marcel and Aygen. Marcel kindly suggested to work on this peculiar candidate, and given the challenge of the project - to publish the first color image of this beautiful nebula - the team started to collect the data without further due.

What type of object is it ?

PaStDr 10 / PNG 259.6-32.0 was discovered by the US-French-German team of Dana Patchick, Xavier Strottner and Marcel Drechsler in 2020 by scanning Digital Sky Surveys. The H-alpha shell appears in several surveys, but is most clearly visible on the SHASSA H-alpha plates. The shell is also well visible on the red plate of the UKST survey.

PaStDr 10 is thought to be a planetary nebula with an estimated size of 55 arc minutes and is located in the constellation Pictor, not too far away from the famous star Beta Pictoris, a young planetary system 63 light-years away from earth. Further, we noticed that Canopus - the second brightest star in the sky - is only some 7 degrees to the east, approximately the same declination.
