The Last Fin just won 1st Place in the Nano-Budget category at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival AND was named a Quarterfinalist for Best Short!!

I made this independent short documentary after filming the shark fin trade in Indonesia, and getting to share this story with more people has meant so much to me.

As a self-taught filmmaker and ocean conservationist, this is such an exciting milestone. Here’s to more ocean stories that deserve to be told. 🌊

Hi, I’m Lexi 🦈

Here’s a little about me, what I do, and what you’ll find on this page.

I’m a filmmaker, photographer, diver, and ocean advocate with a background in sharks, fisheries, and ocean policy.

I’ve spent time in the field learning about marine ecosystems and the communities tied to them. That taught me that science is essential, but stories are what make people care. So I picked up a camera.

Now I use film, photography, and storytelling to connect science, conservation, and people.

POV: your dream of swimming with sharks is officially on the calendar 🦈🌊

There’s a reason Bimini, Bahamas is one of my favorite places to get in the water. Crystal-clear blue water, sharks swimming just feet away, and encounters that make you forget you’re even breathing through a regulator (almost lol).

And I want YOU to experience it, too.

I’m organizing a shark diving expedition to Bimini, and I’m looking for fellow ocean lovers to join me 🤿

Think days spent in the water, unforgettable shark encounters, underwater photos and videos, and meeting people who get just as excited about seeing a shark as you do.

Still can’t believe I turned around underwater and this little guy was just… there 🥹🤍

Hawaiian monk seals are endangered and rarely seen underwater while snorkeling, so getting to share even a brief moment with one was something I’ll never forget.

Still thinking about my few days in Oʻahu 🌊🌺

A few weeks ago, I got to join an incredible group of young ocean leaders for the @oceanuprise Summit.

We learned from some amazing people across the ocean space, got hands-on sorting marine debris, spent time learning from Hawaiʻi and the people who call it home, and had so many conversations about conservation, community, and the future of our ocean.

I also got to screen The Last Fin during our film night 🎬💙 Sharing something so personal to me with a group of people equally passionate about our ocean was incredibly special.

But the best part was the people. I left Oʻahu with new friendships, new perspectives, and even more excitement for what’s ahead. 🌊

So grateful for this community. 🫶🏼

Climate Week NYC, what a WEEK 🗽🌎🌊

Still processing an insanely inspiring few days filled with incredible people, new ideas, and conversations that have me feeling so excited about the future of the ocean + climate space. 💙

A few highlights:

🌊 Hosting an ECOP USA meetup with my fellow Steering Committee members and getting to bring together so many early-career ocean professionals.

🌎 Helping put on Deloitte’s oceans session with The Ocean Cleanup, McLaren Racing & Great Barrier Reef Foundation.

💙 Meeting so many incredible women working across climate, sustainability & conservation at Women and Climate.

💡 Exploring The Nest Campus, talking corporate sustainability & of course finding my way to the ocean session.

🌊 Connecting with the Oceanic Global community as an Oceanic Global Ambassador.

And SO many panels, coffees, dinners, catch-ups, new connections, and conversations in between. 🥹

Honestly, the people were the best part of the entire week. So sad to say goodbye to everyone, but so excited for the conversations, collaborations & friendships that will continue long after Climate Week.

If we crossed paths in NYC — whether we spent hours together or had a 5-minute conversation running between events — PLEASE stay in touch!! 🫶🏼

Leaving NYC exhausted, inspired, and with way too many new ideas. 💙🌊
