Every wave is a reminder that the ocean is alive, full of stories worth protecting. When we rise together, our actions ripple farther than we can imagine. 🌊💙

Thirty young ocean leaders. Eight countries. Four days on the North Shore of Oʻahu. 🌊

This year’s @oceanuprise Summit brought together storytellers, scientists and organisers at Kawela Bay to learn from the land, the water and each other, from celestial navigation and coral mapping to fishpond restoration and project planning.

🪸96% of participants left with a stronger commitment to protecting the ocean.
🌊 83% plan to launch a new ocean initiative within the next six months.

“I found a new sense of motivation that is rooted in hope and excitement instead of anxiety.”

You’re invited to Pick ‘N Sip on October 30th!

Join us at 4:30pm for a short beach cleanup along Waikiki Beach and stay for a pau hana/celebration of the ocean featuring local entertainment, pupus, and drinks.

Registration is REQUIRED, so please follow the link in bio to RSVP.

After meeting at the Ocean Uprise Summit, Katie, Kalae, and Kaila decided they wanted to bring their ocean ideas to life in Waikiki.

Katie lives in Waikiki, and noticed how much trash and lack of awareness there was for taking care of our oceans. Kalae had just embarked on a fellowship that focuses on marine debris removal. And Kaila had planned several beach cleanups throughout the island. Together, they set out on creating Pick ‘N Sip.

With support from amazing Parley for the Oceans staff, they’ll be hosting an event that gives visitors and locals the opportunity to take care of the world around them and celebrate the ocean!

Our 4th Makapuʻu community workday, made possible with support from @oceanuprise and in collaboration with @parley_hawaii 🌊

In two hours, 67 volunteers:
🗑️ Removed 174 pounds of litter
⛏️ Cleared 1,267 square feet of invasive plants
🌱 Planted 32 native plants

“But to truly connect with the ocean, they must first find it within themselves.”

Meet Katharina ( @katharinagrisotti ) - over six weeks, she completed the Ocean Uprise Externship with one intention: bring ocean literacy home to Itapevi, an inland Brazilian city 100km from the coast, where the ocean is absent from daily life.

The result was ‘Children of Water’, a short film inviting seven children to find the ocean within themselves before they ever saw it. When they finally met it, it wasn’t a first encounter. It was a recognition.

“The shoreline became a mirror,” Katharina reflects, “of wonder, of responsibility, and of the question every child carried home.”

‘No Blue, No Green.’ - @dr.sylviaearle

The ocean connects us all - and this June, we’re bringing that to life.

In a print created exclusively for London Climate Action Week and Ocean Uprise, @anthonyburrill will print live alongside @benchallen - onto seaweed-based @notpla paper by @gfsmithpapers . A material pulled from one of nature’s most regenerative resources, turned into something you can hold in your hands.

Art has always arrived before policy. Making things is how ideas move from conversation into culture.
