IN THE CLOSET for @thecoldmagazine This project is deeply personal. I grew up in a small town where queerness was something that existed in silence. There was always a feeling of performing a version of myself that felt acceptable while carefully hiding everything that didn’t. Even after coming out, I realized that „the closet“ isn’t always a place you leave-it can become something you carry within you. The photographs are an attempt to visualize that invisible space. They move between intimacy and discomfort, beauty and restraint, using fashion, symbolism, and the body to speak about shame, desire, fear, and the longing to be seen without having to explain yourself. Rather than documenting a story, the series seeks to recreate an emotional state. Collab with @ocramregnilliz x @fr.aue By the mid-1920s, Anita Berber had become one of the most provocative figures of Berlin’s nightlife. As an actress, dancer and writer, she challenged the conventions of her time, both through her work and her personal life. Her performances, particularly Dances of Vice, Horror, and Ecstasy (1922), combined eroticism, grotesque imagery and elements of horror, confronting the moral expectations of bourgeois society. Her life was equally excessive, marked by alcohol, drugs and relationships with both men and women. In 1925, Otto Dix encountered Berber in Düsseldorf and was captivated by her presence. Shortly afterwards, he painted her portrait, depicting her nude in striking red. In this series, Zoe embodies Berber’s spirit, translating her striking presence into a contemporary photographic language. Unlike Dix’s portrayal, however, Zoe is far from passive. She takes an active role in the images, confronting the viewer with an intense, almost unsettling gaze. Rather than simply being observed, she seems to look straight through the viewer, challenging them to meet her presence and, seemingly, gaze into their own soul.
