Over 64 years of preparing students for job placement and further education leading to successful employment in today’s & tomorrow’s careers.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
During Manufacturing Week, students in the OCVTS Engineering Technology Program, located in Jackson, NJ stepped inside the world of advanced manufacturing with an industry tour of Independence Cryogenic Engineering (ICE)/626 in Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey.

From designing and building to testing and shipping MRI and X-ray systems, students witnessed firsthand the precision engineering, technical expertise, and collaboration required to produce complex medical imaging equipment that supports life-saving diagnoses and patient care.

Kirk Stevenson, General Manager, led the tour, introducing students to employees whose diverse backgrounds and skill sets contribute to the company’s success. Their stories highlighted an important message: there are multiple pathways to a rewarding career in advanced manufacturing and engineering. Through hands-on technical training, specialized skills, and real-world experience, students can prepare for opportunities in high-demand industries without every career path requiring a traditional four-year college degree.

The experience also offered a glimpse into the scale and impact of ICE/626’s work, including its role in a highly competitive engineering industry with leaders such as NASA and its business relationships with major pharmaceutical companies such as Merck and Pfizer.

In a special welcome to OCVTS students, the company’s CEO shared a video message emphasizing the growing need for the next generation of skilled workers. As ICE/626 hosted its first student tour, the visit created a valuable connection between classroom learning and the workforce opportunities awaiting today’s emerging talent.

At OCVTS, Career and Technical Education connects students with industry, transforms technical knowledge into practical skills, and opens doors to meaningful careers. Experiences like this demonstrate how industry partnerships help prepare students to become tomorrow’s engineers, innovators, and skilled professionals.

⚙️👷🏽‍♂️OCVTS Training and Industry Partnership Open Doors to Careers in Land Surveying and Engineering | October 14, 2026

(OCVTS) partnership with Olmeda Consulting, LLC, connects career-focused education with real-world experience in the surveying and geospatial industry.

Founded in 2024 and based in Manasquan, New Jersey, Olmeda Consulting provides geospatial services with a focus on accuracy, quality, safety, and dependable project delivery. Through this partnership, students gain hands-on experience with professional surveying equipment, field procedures, and industry practices under the guidance of experienced professionals.

By aligning technical training with the needs of industry, OCVTS engineering programs help prepare students for career opportunities in engineering, land surveying, and related fields. The district’s established Engineering Technology program provides students with a strong technical foundation, while the new Civil Engineering CADD and Surveying program, launching in 2027, will broaden access to specialized training. This connection between education and employment is reflected in graduates Alberto Cegion and Payton Gordon, who were hired as Instrument Operators following internships with Olmeda Consulting. The company is now looking to OCVTS for a third candidate to join its team as a Junior CAD Drafter, highlighting the role of career and technical education in developing a skilled workforce.

Founder Marc Olmeda, the partnership is an opportunity to introduce students to career paths they may not have previously considered and share the knowledge he has gained through more than 20 years of professional land surveying experience.

Through meaningful industry partnerships and hands-on learning, OCVTS continues to prepare students with the technical skills employers need while creating pathways to rewarding careers.

The owner, Marc Olmeda, visited the OCVTS Jackson Center and did a presentation for our Engineering Technology Program. It piqued my interest, so I reached out to him.

Marc took on me and another classmate in July as instrument operators. I'm developing my skills in the surveying and engineering field.

OCVTS prepared me for the real world and played a huge role in my current position. Proficiency in basic measurements and math, such as understanding eighths, is crucial in the trades.

❝ Keep learning math! It's everywhere.❞

The owner, Marc Olmeda, visited the OCVTS Jackson Center to speak to the Engineering Technology Program about his profession. I wasn't familiar with the word "surveyor," but everything he explained sounded interesting, so I decided to apply. I wasn't expecting to hear back from him because I didn't have any experience. I am very lucky to have been given this opportunity.

OCVTS changed my work ethic. It helped shape me into the person I am today. I'll always be grateful for everything I learned at OCVTS and how it helped me grow.

LEADING THE WAY INTO THE WEEK OF RESPECT 💙
What better way to kick off OCVTS’ Week of Respect, October 5–9, than with a little teamwork, a lot of energy and some serious leadership challenges?

OCVTS welcomed LEAD U to our ALPS and GPAA Career Academies for an interactive, play-based experience designed to challenge students to think bigger, work together and discover the leader within.

Throughout the workshops, students — and some enthusiastic staff members — jumped right into a series of fast-paced games and team challenges focused on problem-solving, communication, leadership and real-world connections. The activities encouraged students to step outside their comfort zones, collaborate with their peers and see how the choices they make can positively impact the people around them.

LEAD U’s workshops combine hands-on activities, personal reflection and honest conversations to create memorable experiences that go beyond the classroom. Students weren’t just learning about leadership — they were actively putting leadership skills into action.

From teamwork and communication to building confidence and embracing leadership opportunities, the day delivered an important message: respect, responsibility and leadership start with each of us.

And judging by the energy, laughter and participation, our students — and staff — were more than ready to LEAD U there!
