THE ODEUM EDIT

A little late from Milan. Better that way. Less reaction, more reflection.

What stayed with us? Colour with confidence. Craft without nostalgia. Sensuality without ceremony.

Bottega was Louise Trotter’s strongest collection for the house to date — assured, intelligent and beautifully resolved. Craft became instinct rather than statement; colour, movement and material all speaking the same language.

At Gucci, Demna’s definitive vision arrived — broken bourgeoisie, sharp glamour, sex and attitude. Gucci felt like Gucci again, but unmistakably his.

Jil Sander put colour into minimalism. Diesel gave us Glenn Martens’ parting shot: raw, body-conscious and unapologetically sexy. Prada took the familiar and made it strange again.

Milan’s best clothes lived in contradiction: precise but undone, sensual but intelligent, extravagant but easy.

Quiet luxury has definitely had enough quiet.

LONDON FASHION WEEK.
THE ODEUM EDIT.

London delivered what we come here for: individuality, craft and clothes with a reason to exist. Our edit from the week begins with Alexander McQueen’s return home to London - a fitting reminder of the creative tension this city does better than anywhere else.

At McQueen, sharp tailoring met sensuality and subculture. Simone Rocha gave us her particular kind of undone romance - sheer layers, embellishment and femininity with an edge. Richard Quinn made the case for dressing up again: drama, volume and unapologetic glamour, while Erdem continued to make historical references feel desirable rather than nostalgic.

We were particularly interested in London’s more independent voices. KNWLS brought confidence and sensuality to the body; Paolo Carzana reminded us how compelling clothes can be when you can see the hand behind them, and Di Petsa continued her exploration of draping and the female form with pieces that feel almost sculpted onto the skin.

At Roksanda, it was about colour, proportion and movement - clothes with presence. And Harris Reed delivered fashion as theatre: corsetry, elongated silhouettes and pieces designed to make an entrance.

What are we taking away from London? Romance is getting less polite. The body is back. Craft matters. Volume is becoming more expressive, and occasion dressing is feeling exciting again.

These are the ideas. And the designers. wWe’ll be watching as we buy the season.

Some jewelry waits for an occasion. Diane Kordas assumes one is already happening. Gold, pavé, sapphire, suede - the eye motif turned into a house language rather than a season. Fine jewelry with a superstition and a sense of humour about it, made for women who put it on before coffee and forget to take it off.

In the wooded hills of Tuscia, Benedetta Bruzziches gives her bags names of their own, dresses them in hand-sewn crystal mesh and sends them into the world looking for a plot. They exist somewhere between Italian craft, wearable theatre and a very elegant lapse in judgement. Sensible plans were never really the point.
