Tomorrow is the final day of the Literary Festival! At 12:30 p.m., join @meccajamilah for A Conversation on Craft in the Burgess Room (BAL 9024). At 2 p.m., head to the University Theatre for an Alumni Reading featuring @etc.writes, @thevawriter, Richard Leise, and @truecaleb.

At 4 p.m., celebrate the launch of the Brackish Waters and Constellate anthologies at ODU Perry Library. At 6 p.m., see the finished games from Room to Wonder: A Game Jam in Monarch Hall, Room 2116. Finally, stop by University Theatre at 7 p.m. for a reading by Mecca Jamilah Sullivan

Wednesday, we are starting the festivities early at 10am with Chris Adrian, who will be leading a Workshop at Eastern Virginia Medical School. 

After that, at 12pm, we have a Sculpture in Action, Curator’s Tour with Jasper Waugh-Quasebarth at @gordonartgalleries 

At 2pm, we will have a Virginia Poetry Database Reading with Lesley Wheeler, Carolyn Kreiter-Foronda, and Luz Schweig at ODU Perry Library 

Later that evening at 4pm, we will meet at @thesloverva for a Screening of “Once” from @narovideo_odu. At 7pm, we will have a reading from @siobhanfallonwriter. 

Shuttles will be available if needed!

Continuing on with the schedule of events, Tuesday, October 6, at 12pm, we have a Bookbinding workshop with ODU faculty @poetslizard. 

At 2pm in University Theater, we have an MFA faculty reading with @juliamaejohnso_  and @jane_alberdeston_coralin. Following that, at 4pm we have a reading from author Scott McClanahan.

Starting at 6pm, join us at Eastern Virginia medical school for a reading, workshop, and celebration with author Chris Adrian. 

Shuttles are available to get you to the event should you need the assistance.

Join us Monday, October 5th at 2:00pm in University Theatre for a reading by Kimbra Drake!

Kimbra Drake is the acclaimed author of Where the Heart Meets the Sea, creating emotional, character-driven narratives centered on heritage, healing, and northern European landscapes. She is also a certified book coach and developmental editor. She lives and writes in Virginia and Ireland. When not crafting stories, some of her passions include traveling, hiking in nature, photography, and watching gigs and readings at indie bookstores. Where the Heart Meets the Sea is currently being developed as a feature film with producer, writer and actress Hélène Cardona. The novel is inspired by Kimbra’s time living in Lyngør, Norway.

Literary Festival swag incoming! We will have merch available at select events during the festival. Visit the Arts@ODU table during the following events:

--> Monday, October 5 at 7:00 p.m.: Edith & Forrest P. White Writer-in-Residence Reading: Hanif Abdurraqib. University Theatre.

--> Thursday, October 8 at 7:00 p.m: Reading by Mecca Jamilah Sullivan. University Theatre.

T-shirts, pens, and stickers are free. Dad hats are $25 + tax and all sales support Literary Festival programming. Items available while supplies last 🎁
