The Midnight Lantern Shawl ✨🏮

This design has been living in my mind for a very long time.

For ages, I've been drawn to the idea of creating a lantern-inspired crochet motif. There is something so beautiful about the gentle curves of a lantern shape, the way your eye naturally follows the lines and flows effortlessly through the repeating pattern.

After many sketches, colour experiments, redesigns, and more cups of coffee than I can count, the Midnight Lantern Shawl was born. 💖

Inspired by the soft glow of lanterns against a dreamy night sky, this delicate triangular shawl combines flowing lantern motifs, soft florals, and elegant drape to create a piece that feels both comforting and striking to wear.

This shawl was designed in collaboration with @utopia.crafts using their beautiful 365 Days Mercerised Cotton. The smooth stitch definition and gorgeous colour palette helped bring my vision to life perfectly.

One of my favourite things about this design is how it wraps around your shoulders with a lovely weighted drape, creating a cosy, comforting feel while still remaining elegant and wearable.

The pattern includes:

🌸 The Wildflower Square is now live 🌸

I’m so happy to finally share this design with you.

The Wildflower Square is a delicate, textured floral motif inspired by colourful wildflowers scattered across a summer meadow.

Each little square features a raised central bloom surrounded by soft, layered stitches, and can be made in endless colour combinations to create something completely unique.

This pattern is designed to be versatile and creative, with clever join-as-you-go instructions included to help you turn your squares into whatever you’re dreaming of making, from scarves and accessories to larger projects for the home. My talented testers created some absolutely gorgeous makes with this little square which I will be sharing with you all very soon.

This is also the very first design in my Wildflower Collection, with more exciting patterns coming soon 🌿

😂 When you're a crochet designer, not a natural-born presenter…

So, Catherine and I thought we'd film a little blanket drop video to introduce our Triana Blanket CAL… easy, right?!

Except I'm much more comfortable behind a crochet hook than in front of a camera. 🙈😂

Trying to remember what I'm supposed to say, what I'm supposed to do, where I'm supposed to look, what to do with my hands… and apparently how to have a face. 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️

Let's just say being outside my comfort zone is an understatement!

But this is the reality of putting yourself out there, trying new things and occasionally feeling like your brain has completely left the building. 😂

Thankfully, Catherine is just as lovely in real life as she is talented, and we had a good laugh along the way. ❤️

The actual blanket made the cut, and thanks to Catherine's fabulous editing skills, she somehow managed to squeeze a full introduction video out of the chaos. 😂🙌🏻

But THIS video? There's just no rescuing it. 🤣💀

After stepping so far outside my comfort zone I practically need a map to get back… 🤣🫣

Last week, Carmen and I sat down on my sofa with both our blankets to talk through the Triana CAL.

The Triana Blanket is a collaboration between Carmen of @off_the_hook_creative and me: 20 tapestry crochet tiles in four designs, all inspired by Mediterranean tilework. We each designed one geometric and one botanical tile, and made the blanket in our own colours, blue on white for me and copper on white for Carmen, using @wecrochetofficial ‘s gorgeous Swish DK yarn.

Day 16 & 17 combined: Clashing & Exploded Rainbow

I've combined these two days prompts cause I think I have a little bit of both in these pics 😂 💣 🌈

1st pic is from the pattern called the 'Felix Blanket' crochet along by @astitchwhimsy 💞

2nd pic is the square 'colour riot' by Rachele @cypresstextiles

Then just some fun random rainbow cake I made for the kids and of course my one and only plushie my cousin gave me not long ago. I always wanted a rainbow care bear when I was a kid... Forgot about that until I got this little guy in my adulthood. I love it so much!

A dream moment… crocheting on a yacht as we sailed from Thassos to Kavala across the Aegean Sea in Greece. 🇬🇷💙

Just me, surrounded by my happy kids, my happy husband, my crochet, the sound of the water and the most incredible views. 🌊🧶💙

Day 14 – Wearable 🧶💕

I would say this is my biggest design of 2026 and one I’m incredibly proud of.

The Midnight Lantern Shawl. 💕

It was a real challenge to design, but I loved every minute of it. I created this shawl using @utopia.crafts stunning 365 Days Mercerised Cotton, and the drape and weight of this shawl make it not only comfortable to wear, but comforting too.
