It is a great honour to introduce our artists for the 2026 Lust*Art Exhibition starting with @office.ties 💞

Office is a collective based in Brussel consisting of mara ittel, isa weber, cris e. fidelis, ros del olmo and dagmar dirkx.

Inspired by past and present lesbian bars, it is a space for queer and trans people to exchange, talk, flirt, write, watch movies and dance together.
They came together in spring 2024 attending to the need for queer spaces in Brussels. They have collaborated with au Jus, Goethe Institut Brüssel, S3xy Kesser Vater, Les Grands Carmes and SVĚTOVA 1. Each event opens a dialogue with the space and the audience which we collaborate with, often in the form of invitations to collaborate, publications, shared questions, experiences and research, readings, dancefloors, drink recipes and others.

"Our bar hosts a living collection of queer correspondences: sticky notes from your roommate, poems, fan mail, sapphic love-letters, lyrics, voice-notes for your platonic partner, and more. You’re invited to contribute! Come to ask a question to the oracle of love letters and share a drink with us!"

On May 9th at @onefieldfallow, we’ll be putting on our archival coats for you, sharing all our love letters secrets and hoping for yours 📝

Bring the love* letters you’ve been reading non-stop, the sticky note you left your friend on the fridge, the fan mail you wrote, your favourite lyrics-as-love-letters, the voice-notes to your roommate, the queer correspondences under your bed from over a thousand years ago… we would like our archive to grow with contributions and references from you! Can be in the shape of a book or letter and we scan it on the spot, a photo to send to us, a copy or also a donation of the original version.

Come to ask a question to the oracle of love letters 🎯 and help us tend our tender archive of queer love, friendship and appreciation letters. Or just browse through our collection and share a drink with us.

16h to 18h workshop 🖇️💌
We’re starting the evening with a workshop around the art of love letter writing and poetic longing, following different writing prompts, exploring how to bring our feelings onto paper.

18h -22h dyke bar 🍸👔
Afterwards we invite you to our legendary office dyke bar with extra special espresso martinis and a love letter installation with writings and poetry that will make your gay little heart melt.

Freak City is a zine that explores the notions of freak collectively departing from questions that arose around the filmography of Ulrike Ottinger, especially Freak Orlando. This publication glues together texts, images, photos, and interviews into a sticky, brooding chimney city of Freak Stories.

📅 Don't miss the zine launch on February 15, 2025, at one of @office.ties fabulous dyke bar evenings, this time at Brussels' queer cultural center Les Grands Carmes.

It’s freak o’clock already, or what? On February 15th join us for the reopening of our dyke bar at @grandscarmes .

In collaboration with @kesser_vater and thanks to your beautiful contributions, the second zine Freak City is almost ready.

Come alone, with your crushes, lovers and/or friends. You will find tunes, queers, drag kings, stories and drawings on a cute, freaky, casual saturday. @laupersijn will put a ribbon to the evening with their DJ set and we will be serving very meaningful dry martinis.

We wait for you at the threshold of Freak City from 18h to 23:30h.

On the 15th of February we’ll be releasing part 2 of the zine at the second office crush edition that will include our almost classic dyke bar, and some extra activities around it. We hope that we see each other again in the afternoon and evening to talk and drink dry martinis out of tall glasses. It’s gonna be fun. Location to be confirmed, stay tuned!

Starting point of our zine is Ulrike Ottinger’s movie “Freak Orlando”. The first chapter of the zine proposes some questions about the term freak, its meaning and relation to queerness. You can already pick up a free copy of it at the exhibition “Theatrum Mundi” in the foyer of @cinematekbe !

For the second chapter we invite you all to think with us and share your thoughts. Over the next days we’ll share some of the questions in our stories and you can send us contributions via dm or by e-mail to officebxl@proton.me 📮

We are happy and curious to receive poems, short comments, drawings, essays, screenshots, more questions as well as anything in between and beyond. Feel free to respond in the language, length and format that fits you most. by @office.ties

It’s Freak o’clock and @office.ties and @kesser_vater are working on a new project 🕰️ As part of the retrospective of Ulrike Ottinger at @cinematekbe we were invited by @goetheinstitut_belgien to engage with the filmmaker’s work. For this, we are preparing a printed zine on notions of the (queer) freak, which will be launched during our next bar in February. by @office.ties
