Month 8.

I just wanted to take a moment to really say thank you.

To everyone who has ever come to train with me whether it was a one-off session or you’ve been with me week after week thank you for trusting me to help you on your journey. I started MF Development back in November 2024, and looking at how far we’ve come since then honestly blows my mind.

Coaching athletes from all across Ireland, both online and in person… having weeks fully booked out… it’s been surreal. I’ve spent countless and I mean countless hours editing, filming, writing, and creating for this brand, and somehow time just keeps flying by.

When I started this, I didn’t know how fast things would move. But here we are at month 8, and I couldn’t be more grateful. This is just the beginning, and I’m beyond excited for what’s ahead.

Thank you to every single person who has been part of this journey so far. You’re the reason I do this. by @official_mfdevelopment

1.	Track your makes, not your attempts. 200 shots means nothing. 160 out of 200 from specific spots means everything.
	2.	Never leave on a miss. End every session on a made shot. How you finish trains what you expect of yourself next time.
	3.	Shoot with a defender in mind on every rep. Open gym does not prepare you for game shooting.
	4.	Know your spots. Own three or four locations completely before you try to shoot from everywhere.
	5.	Surround yourself with players and coaches who are serious. Your environment decides your standard. If you want to level up faster than you ever have, the Road to Pro program is in my bio.

The other 10 go into the mechanics, the footwork, the film habits, and the daily practice structure that turns an average shooter into someone teammates want to find.

I broke down how to become a lights out shooter as a whole in a free PDF, not just these 15 things. Comment SHOOTER and I’ll send it to you.

5 unusual signs you could be great at basketball.

Not the obvious ones. Not “you work hard” or “you love the game.” Everyone says that. These are the ones nobody talks about.

	1.	You replay mistakes longer than you celebrate makes. Average players move on from both quickly. The ones who become great are bothered by their errors in a way they can’t switch off. That bothers them until it’s fixed.
	2.	You notice things on the court nobody around you notices. The off-ball movement, the mismatch that just appeared, the defender cheating. If you see the game at a different frame rate to your teammates, that is not normal.
	3.	You feel physically uncomfortable doing nothing. Rest days feel wrong. Not because you’re addicted to the gym but because something in you does not want to fall behind. That quiet anxiety is not weakness. It is drive.
	4.	You are never fully satisfied after a good game. You scored 20 and all you can think about is the two possessions you wasted. The ones who make it are never content. They enjoy it briefly and then they want more.
	5.	You watch the game differently to everyone else in the room. While others watch the ball, you watch the spacing. While others react to the highlight, you caught the read that created it two seconds before. That is basketball IQ you were not taught.

If you read those and felt seen, that is not a coincidence.

I broke down what it actually takes to turn those signs into a real career in a free PDF. Comment GREAT and I’ll send it to you.

1.	Train your first step, not just your top speed. The game is decided in the first two steps. Sprint training is great but if your first step is slow your top speed never matters. Work on explosive starts from a basketball stance.
	2.	Build single leg strength. Every cut, every jump, every change of direction happens on one leg. Squats are good. Single leg work is what actually transfers to the court. Bulgarian split squats, single leg RDLs, step ups.
	3.	Jump and land properly. Most players train the jump and ignore the landing. A bad landing pattern kills your knees over time and bleeds the power you just built. Learn to absorb force before you chase height.
	4.	Train your hips. Your hips generate most of your explosive power. Tight hips mean a slow first step, a weak jump, and limited change of direction. Hip mobility and hip strength are not the same thing. You need both.
	5.	Be consistent with your athletic training, not just your skill work. Most players hit the gym when they feel like it and wonder why nothing changes. Athletic development is slow and it compounds. Three sessions a week every week beats five sessions one week and nothing the next.

Athleticism is not a ceiling you are born with. It is a floor you build through the right work done consistently.

I broke down how to become a more athletic basketball player as a whole in a free PDF, not just these 5 things. Comment ATHLETIC and I’ll send it to you.

Anyone can shoot. Not everyone is a shooter. The difference isn’t talent, it’s the small details most players never get told about.

	1.	They always warm up the same way. Routine builds muscle memory and confidence before a single shot is taken.
	2.	They track their makes, not their attempts. 200 shots means nothing. 160 out of 200 from specific spots means everything.
	3.	They practice off the catch and off the dribble equally. Game shots come from both.
	4.	They never shoot tired with bad form. Sloppy reps build a sloppy shot. If the form goes, the session ends.
	5.	They train the shotsthey actually get in games. Not just catch and shoot from the wing. Pull ups, stepbacks, off screens.
	6.	They hold their follow through every time. Not sometimes. Every single time.
	7.	They practice at game speed. A shot that only works when you’re comfortable and open is not a real shot.
	8.	They know their spots. Real shooters have three or four locations they own completely, not ten spots they’re average from.
	9.	They shoot with a defender in mind. Every rep has an imagined contest. Open gym shooting does not prepare you for game shooting.
	10.	They never leave on a miss. The last shot of every session is a made one. End on a standard, not on a mistake.

The players who shoot 45 percent from three in games did not get lucky. They just practiced differently.

I broke down shooting as a whole in a free PDF, not just these 10 habits. Comment SHOOTER and I’ll send it to you.

Every time Mo steps in the gym I know he’s ready to work, he never misses a session whether it’s trough Ramadan and he’s fasting or whether he’s in season or off season he’s been at almost every session since he started. Just someone who works hard every single time without being asked.

That attitude is exactly why he won Most Improved Player at his club this season. Results like that don’t happen by accident.

We’re still building. But if he keeps showing up the way he does, the ceiling is high.

Good things ahead.

Some players make coaching easy. Josh is one of them.

Not because everything came naturally. But because he showed up every single time ready to work. No excuses, no shortcuts, just someone who genuinely wanted to get better.

Watching him grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. The skill development, the physical progression, but more than anything the confidence. That shift when a player starts to believe in themselves on the court is something you can’t fake and you can’t rush. Josh earned that.

He didn’t just grow as a basketball player. He grew as an athlete and as a person. That’s what this is really about.

Grateful for players like him. This is why I do it.

At 16 I had no handle. This is the list I wish someone gave me.

No system, no structure, just figuring it out the hard way while other players got ahead.

100 drills. Tennis ball, two ball, lateral movement, manipulation, and burnout work. Everything I eventually learned, in one place, completely free.

Comment HANDLE and I’ll send it to you.
