Last week Project Skye spent the day at @muttville, the country’s first cage-free shelter and California’s first senior dog rescue. Every dog roams a bright, homey space with an on-site vet suite, groomer, and hospice care for the ones who need it. Many of these seniors lost their person or were surrendered when they got older. Muttville has rescued over 14,000 of them. At Project Skye we advocate for seniors, partnering with rescues, spotlighting their seniors, and finding them homes. Muttville is what that looks like at its best 💙 tag a friend who needs a senior best friend! #muttville taken in Tribeca, New York City by @officialprojectskye

Meet two sweet seniors from @truenorthrescuemission who are ready to find their forever homes!

💙 Miner, 8, is a sweet and spunky 11-pound Yorkshire Terrier who loves his people, other dogs, walks, and plenty of couch time. He’s affectionate, easygoing, and always happy to give out a few kisses.

🩷 Comet, 13, is a 15-pound Cairn Terrier mix with plenty of pep in her step. She loves her walks, saying hello to people and pups, and is wonderfully adaptable to all kinds of homes.

Two very different personalities, but one thing they have in common: they’re both ready for a home where their golden years can be filled with love, comfort, and plenty of fun.

Help us spread the word and share this post to help Miner and Comet find their forever homes! 🏡🐾

Still thinking about this day 🥹💙
Sisters Sleepy & Sneezy got to reunite, and watching them see each other again was the sweetest moment.
Sleepy has found her home, but sweet Sneezy is still waiting for hers. 🐾 If you or someone you know might be the perfect person for her, send us a DM.

On Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day, we’re remembering the dog who inspired it all. 🌈

Skye lived to be 20 years old, and his life became the inspiration behind Project Skye. He showed us that senior dogs have so much life, love, and joy left to give, and that their later years deserve just as much care, comfort, and devotion as every year before them. Today, Project Skye carries that legacy forward, helping senior dogs get the support and second chances they deserve.

For Skye, and for all the dogs who continue to remind us that growing old is a privilege.

[ADOPTED!!]
Meet Sneezy! 🤍 This 8–10-year-old, 50lb girl has been with us since March — over 150 days waiting for someone to realize just how special she is.

Sneezy is sweet, gentle, and perfectly content taking life at her own pace. She’s curious and independent, and while she may not rush over asking for attention, give her a little time and she’ll happily settle in right beside you. She also loves other dogs and has done beautifully with her foster siblings, especially when everyone keeps things on the calmer side.

Her days are a mix of walks, backyard zoomies, window watching, and tossing her toys into the air with questionable catching skills 😂 She’s potty trained, crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and is learning that responding to “Sneezy” usually results in cheese.

After 152 days with us, we’d really love for Sneezy’s person to finally find her. She’s looking for a home with minimal stairs or elevator access and someone who wants a calm, loving companion to share the everyday stuff with. 🤍

🥂 Come meet Sneezy at Senior Sips with @officialprojectskye Sunday, August 23 | 2–5PM
She’ll be joining some of our other adoptable seniors for an afternoon dedicated to helping these very deserving dogs find their forever people!

[ADOPTED!] Meet Lina 🤍 9 years old, 9 lbs, and the perfect mix of professional napper + surprisingly adventurous little lady.

At home, Lina is happiest curled up beside you, on top of you, under a pile of blankets… basically anywhere cozy. But mention a walk and she’s ready to go. She’s wonderful on leash, takes the city in stride, loves soaking up the sun, sniffing around the park, and still has plenty of pep for a good trot, spin, or bird chase.

Lina is potty trained, good in the car, and does well with other dogs in the home. She can be shy at first, but once she trusts you, she’s the sweetest little shadow who just wants to snooze nearby.

And this weekend, you can meet her in person! Lina will be joining our friends at @officialprojectskye for Senior Sips at @corknyc on August 23 from 2–5PM 🍷🐾

Come meet Lina, support senior pups, and maybe leave with a new best friend!

Apply to adopt Lina online through True North Rescue! 🤍

Senior Spotlight: Meet Lottie 💙

Lottie is proof that every senior dog deserves a fresh start. This sweet, spunky 9-year-old was found wandering alone in a New Jersey trailer park before a kind stranger brought her to safety.

Since then, Lottie has undergone a number of medical tests, and while she’ll need ongoing care to manage a few health conditions, she’s expected to live a happy, comfortable life with the right plan in place.

Her medical needs don’t define her. Lottie is curious, affectionate, and always excited to meet new people. Now all she needs is a family to give her the second chapter she deserves.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion with plenty of love to give, Lottie is ready to meet you. Click in the link in our bio to learn more. 💙 by @officialprojectskye
