At @offscreen_paris, @adel_abidin presents Ā« They Were Here Ā» (2024), a multimedia installation exploring how the persistent tension between war and peace shapes identity across generations, using Iraq as a point of departure.

The work references the Standard of Ur, a Sumerian artifact inlaid with mosaics depicting two opposing states, war and peace. Abandoned Relic, a one-to-one replica reimagined as a deserted object, sits on a large table covered with clay and sand, proposing a hypothesis: that if the Sumerians were living today, they too would have chosen to abandon their civilization and flee.

The missing figures reappear elsewhere in the installation, their repetitive gestures mirroring the quiet labor of adaptation, altering the body, adjusting appearance, reshaping identity to blend into new surroundings.

@ibrahimmahama3 is one of the most influential voices in contemporary art and the first African artist to top ArtReview’s Power 100.

His practice centers on monumental, site-specific installations using materials of labor and trade — jute sacks, timber, and industrial remnants — to explore global economies, colonial histories, and the circulation of goods and people.

Living and working between Accra and Tamale, Mahama is the founder of the Savannah Centre for Contemporary Art (SCCA), Red Clay Studio, and Nkrumah Volini.

His presentation at @offscreen_paris by @apalazzogallery coincides with his major exhibition, ā€œIbrahim Mahama, The Harvest Seasonā€ at the @fondationcartier.

At @offscreen_paris, Moris presents « Pobres matando pobres » [Poor Killing Poor] (2026), interweaving the revolutionary graphic language of José Guadalupe Posada, the renowned Mexican political printmaker, with cuttings from contemporary Mexican tabloid newspapers.

Rooted in sustained field research, Moris’s practice draws on the visual languages, codes and survival strategies of Mexico City’s peripheral communities, exposing the mechanisms of power that perpetuate inequality, exclusion and oblivion.

šŸ¤ For the fourth year, Parfums Christian Dior is partnering with @offscreen_paris.

At the @chapellesaintlouis, Parfums Christian Dior presents the work « Threshold » by Akari Takenobu (@at_hazama), winner of the 9th edition (2026) of the Dior Photography and Visual Arts Award for Young Talents.

Takenobu explores the boundary between the visible and the invisible, between physical presence and immaterial existence. Shaped by her experiences with the paranormal, the artist uses her own body as material to question what lies beyond perception. In « ThresholdĀ Ā», she photographs her body, fragments the images, and reassembles them into new and unexpected silhouettes, in a process she describes as a ā€œsimulated death.ā€

At @offscreen_paris, @esthermathis presents ā€œBlindsā€ (2021/2026), a motorized slat curtain that redirects and modulates natural light within the architectural setting, its continuous movement casts the light anew into the room and interacts with the exhibition space’s lighting concept.

The work has been adapted to engage with the specific architecture of La Chapelle Saint-Louis de la Salpêtrière.

Mathis’s scientifically informed yet poetically expressive practice navigates the interplay between natural light and its surroundings, incorporating architectural elements and alchemical processes to challenge notions of sensory perception.

At @offscreen_paris, @sahrab presents Ā« In Search of an Honest Map Ā» (2025), unfolding through an extended gesture in the Saudi desert.

As she walks, dragging her foot across the ground, the movement of her body becomes a line, the desert at once surface, scale and duration, its trace erased by wind, movement and time.

Mapping becomes a bodily act, a way of measuring distance through effort and presence, asking what kind of map might emerge from inhabiting a place rather than observing it from above.

The piece was commissioned as part of a two-year research project under Villa Hegra, alongside films and performance in the desert of Al Ula.

At @offscreen_paris, Pedro A.H. Paixão presents « In medio vero omnium residet Sol » alongside a suite of vermillion drawings, « The Handshake », « Prayer », « The Pure », « Joseph » and « La Madre » (2026), works dedicated to his family history and the (neo)colonial period in Central Africa.

Blending personal photographs, family archives and historical documents in dialogue with the vermilion drawings, the installation explores the artist’s fascination with the universal and spiritual symbolism of solar energy, situated within a suspended atmosphere evoking dreams, animist magic and initiatory journeys.

By creating a spellbinding space, Paixão offers an experience that is as emotional as it is visual.

At @offscreen_paris, @rinusvandevelde presents Ā« A Life in a Day Ā» (2021–2023), continuing his exploration of the boundaries between reality, fiction and self-invention.

The work unfolds as an intimate self-portrait, immersing the viewer in the artist’s internal world. We follow a plein air painter through a tropical jungle and into a swimming pool, before emerging in an underground archive.

Constructed as full-scale sets in the artist’s studio, these environments bring together sculpture, architecture and performance, layering the artist’s everyday life, imaginative wanderings and personal archive.

Through striking visual compositions and a carefully orchestrated interplay of illusion and artifice, Van de Velde’s multidisciplinary practice moves seamlessly between disparate realms, inviting us to question what is real, what is constructed, and how narratives shape our understanding of the world.
