London Frocktailers! 🥳🥳🥳

Only 6 days to go before we get together to celebrate our sewing passion, admire each other's frocks, chat, laugh, drink, eat and jiggle about to some music 🎶 Something like that.

So... are you ready? Room booked, train/plane/automobile sorted? Outfit sewn or selected from the wardrobe?

And do you have all the deets for the evening?? The latter came to you via email two weeks ago so if you haven't seen it now's your chance to say.

Entry is on name basis only so don't worry about printing any tickets.

All that's left to say is we simply cannot wait to welcome you all 🥳

Spare room officially now a sewing room and I’m feeling like a proud new mum showing off my new baby! This is my version of the Ikea Kallax cutting table hack with back to back 8 cube units. After seeing @cazsews recent Ruckus dress, I thought I’d give it ago. I’m always drawn to a bit of asymmetry and this dress has a lot going on. Thanks to @susanyoungsewing for helping me work out the tie mechanism - after that it was pretty plain sailing except……… I made a very lazy toile without the ties and when it came to the real thing it was far too tight across the back so I improvised with an extra panel down the back which I think works ok. Fabric a lovely two tone poplin from my stash. Top tip - put your makeup on AFTER the dress! No zips so asking for a lipstick smudge otherwise! #ruckusdress #memademay2026 #dressmaking by @offshesews

A quick burst of sunshine on a girl’s trip with my lovely daughter means I can wheel out my Liberty silk dress. Made to wear for a wonderful wedding a couple of years ago it is still one of my favourite dresses. Is it the Peony? No - but pretty close! Actually self drafted with French darts 😇 to resemble the Vampires Wife dresses that were everywhere a few years ago. Well amongst the celeb brigade anyway! The fabric is Fantasy Land silk crepe de chine, still available at Liberty but in different colours I think. #memademay2026 #libertysilk #memade❤️ by @offshesews

My version of the Patina blouse which was a lovely sew with clear instructions. The plain sleeves looked a bit like a uniform on me so added elastic to puff them a bit. Not the best jeans but others were on the line ☀️ Fabric, Liberty tana lawn from my stash. Finally finished my ‘spotty’ dress. Burda style magazine 08/2022. Raised the neckline slightly as a bit tooooo low (thank you @susanyoungsewing for tips how to do that). Oh, and lined too 😇. I’ve been looking for a pattern like this in a while and stumbled on this one on Etsy. Is it a tunic or a pinafore? Not sure but it seems to have come out ok. Made in navy boiled wool from #wastedfabrics. It’s fully lined which is helpful as would be a bit scratchy otherwise. I’ve added top stitching to the seams to give it a bit more interest. Should have had pockets but I’d sewn and topstitched one of the side seams before I remembered and that was an unpick too far on boiled wool! #pinaforesrewingpattern #pinaforedress #boiledwool #autumnsewing #sewover50 by @offshesews

Tablecloth top! I was gifted a beautiful hand embroidered vintage tablecloth and found a fab old Burda pattern with princess seams which suits it perfectly. Adapted the pattern slightly as it originally should have had a sweetheart neckline which didn’t really work with the fabric. Lined it in a sheer cotton voile and managed to find the perfect vintage buttons from my stash (which need adjusting slightly but that can wait…). Hot off the sewing table.. Burdastyle mag dress with puffy, raglan sleeves. I shortened the sleeves as they were supposed to be elbow length and that felt too voluminous. Also shortened the length 7.5cm. Quite like the waistband that gives the dress a bit of shape!
