🏕️ Great Food in the Great Outdoors 🔥
This has been my mission ever since I started Off The Beaten Pot.
Being outdoors is one of the best things we can do for our health. So is making sure we’re eating well. And even though MRE companies would have you believe otherwise, it’s easy to cook while on the backcountry, at the camp site and on the trail.
Not only is it good for you. It’s good for the environment. Being able to identify and eat seasonal foods without the need for shoving it in a single use plastic pouch is a real win!
I am passionate about this journey and I want as many people as possible to come along.
Through collaboration we can learn from experts. From research and experience we can look at how things have evolved and we can make simple, tasty food anywhere on earth.

It packs down flat!

This grill is not lightweight. It’s not small. It’s got a massive cooking area with enough space to create heat zones for a variety of cooking.
But when you’re done. It come apart and packs flatirons own carry case.
It’s the Nomad by @firebrandgreenheat and it is a mighty grill that is somehow super portable. by @offthebeatenpot

I love an arrival snack. I like to create simple yet special treats for guests. This was a riff on a pizza, adding blueberries to the sauce and crumbling on toasted walnuts takes little effort but makes for a really interesting flavour that most people won’t have tried.

The arrival snack is an ice breaker for not only the guests but for us as well. We can chat about what they have and if the flavour is relatively unusual, then it gets people asking questions. And when you’re passionate about dooming in the outdoors the real trick is to know when to stop talking about it! 😆

I forgot my stoves.

Yup! Just forgot to pack them. I was bringing the Nomad by @firebrandgreenheat to test out for them. It ended up being my main stove alongside the ‘Big @bernierocketstoves

I loved forgetting my stoves. I usually have my prakti stoves. Capable, dependent and absolute work horses.

But I got to play again. The Nomad was a lot more capable than I initially gave it credit for. I thought it was for families (and it is) but it’s now firmly part of my commercial cooking set up. The ability to create heat zones and easily remove the grill were one of those unnoticed details that actually make cooking outdoors better. There was no friction in the process. No faff. Thanks Firebrand! by @offthebeatenpot

Another Autumnal gathering for @campwild.uk
It’s an important one for me. Three years ago at this event was the first time I cooked publicly as Off The Beaten Pot. Massive really!

A lot has changed. But the concept remains the same. Great food in the great outdoors. This year was cider braised sausages with potato and celeriac mash. Cooked on the mighty @firebrandgreenheat nomad. Seriously impressed with how it made cooking for nearly 70 people a breeze.
@_stuartwoodman_ led the foraging and the mushrooms went down well. by @offthebeatenpot

Field Galley Dispatches is ready to, well… dispatch!!

A monthly subscription to inspire you to cook in the great outdoors. Each month has a different focus, a different set of techniques, a different recipe to focus on and different challenges. Oh and different recipes.
This could have been an online course but honestly, I love the thought of people receiving a subscription through the post every month. Then they have these a6 plant laminated cards to take away with them into the field, into the garden and try their hand at cooking great food in the great outdoors.

The online Facebook community is already active and people have been chatting, asking questions and answering them.

It’s not too late to jump on now and take one of the remaining spots left on this cohort.

It was reasonable before they reduced the price by 70%!

The @wolfandgrizzly grill combo is a handy bit of kit. It turns your fire into a useably large cooking area that can take a decent weight.

Since having this I have used it a lot. Especially when I’ve been travelling on foot and wanting to cook over the flames.

I just saw that @wildbounds have taken SEVENTY PERCENT OFF! so grab a bargain I guess.
