Thanks Noel & Alan for curating me in the ASSEMBLY exhibition @offus_dtla . I was so wrapped up with the show and talking to people that I forgot to take any pictures. Here’s a shot on the way to the gallery inspired by a @lynettekhenderson painting (exhibition at @shoeboxarts.la right now). Second photo is a detail from my Snow Drawing series, exhibited @husavikmuseum and later in solo show in Los Angeles. The Bendix Building @bendixbuilding is a force with so many galleries open at once. Come to @dtlaartnight Oct 1st. Introducing SUPERNOVA!!!!

This weekend at @tryst.la art fair you can experience the debut of the first piece of a series - “SUPERNOVA; a Pre-lamented Lachrymose Lounger. This is a preview of a new body of work entitled “Le Blah Blah Blah de la Corbeille.”

Grateful to @offus_dtla gallery and to @alanbeingalan and @noelalumit their gentle push to usher this new work into the world.

The deadstock wool is embroidered with text and adorned with both hand and machine needle felted images. “Hopes and Dreams.” glows under needle felted wool clouds. “Forever” floats amidst the felted subaru stars. “Forever” is embroidered with pink outline and faint orange fingerprint detail fills the letters. Camouflaged by thread that matches the wool background, the cliff notes version of my soon to be ex wife’s last birthday gift to me - “GET out, GET a job, GET over it” is emblazoned. Unceremoniously dumped on the curb like trash, I was reminded I am indeed a SUPERNOVA. I happen to also be an artist who gathers and makes art out of trash.

The performance component of the work is experienced by scanning a QR code that offers viewers an intimate glimpse behind the actual blood, sweat and tears that goes into making the work. taken in Del Amo Crossing by @offus_dtla
