🌊📖 BOOK LAUNCH | SEVEN MILES UNDER THE ATLANTIC

Today, we have the absolute honour of welcoming Hughie MacArthur to Of Kin & Keep for the launch of his memoir, Seven Miles Under the Atlantic.

A memoir is more than a book. It’s a piece of someone’s life put down on paper. It’s the memories, experiences, challenges, people, places and moments that shaped who they became. It takes a lot to look back on your own life and decide to share those pieces of it with the world.

Seven Miles Under the Atlantic is his story, told in his own words, and today we get to celebrate the courage it takes to tell it.

There is something incredibly special about being able to sit down with an author, hear the story behind the story, and understand the person and experiences that brought a book to life. We hope you’ll come by, meet him, hear more about his memoir, and take home a copy of his story.

A Little More Present | An Evening of Everyday Mindfulness 🍂

As we head into the colder months, I wanted to put together a little evening exploring something I think we could all benefit from bringing more of into our everyday lives.

Mindfulness.

Especially for those of us who have tried meditation, struggled to quiet our minds, or just never really known where to begin.

We'll talk about some of the common misconceptions around mindfulness and meditation, explore how our minds and nervous systems work, and try some simple grounding techniques, gentle breathwork, and body-awareness practices.

The idea is to discover that mindfulness doesn't have to be complicated, and there are plenty of ways to practice it without sitting still and trying to think about nothing.

A relaxed evening of learning, conversation, and tea, with a few practical things to take home and carry into the winter months.

A coal miner’s memoir of work, loss, brotherhood and purpose, this book shares Hughie’s experiences working seven miles beneath the Atlantic Ocean and the lessons he carried with him from a lifetime underground.

We’re so excited to have Ananda Elixirs on our shelves! 🍄✨

These little bottles are packed with functional mushroom extracts traditionally used to support focus, energy, calm, and overall wellness.

Think Lion’s Mane for mental clarity, Reishi for balance, and Cordyceps for a little extra energy!

Add them to your morning coffee, sparkling water, or favourite mocktail. They’re sugar-free, full of flavour, and each bottle makes around 30 drinks!

🎃 Trick or Treat Yourself at Of Kin & Keep! 👻

We’re putting a little Halloween twist on shopping local, and you’re invited!

Join us for an evening of after-hours shopping, tasty treats, and a chance to sample some of the wonderful things our local makers and vendors have to offer.

Think of it as trick-or-treating, but for grown-ups! Wander through the shop, discover something new, meet some of the makers behind your favourite products, and enjoy a few little surprises along the way. 🍬
