A Little More Present | An Evening of Everyday Mindfulness 🍂

As we head into the colder months, I wanted to put together a little evening exploring something I think we could all benefit from bringing more of into our everyday lives.

Mindfulness.

Especially for those of us who have tried meditation, struggled to quiet our minds, or just never really known where to begin.

We'll talk about some of the common misconceptions around mindfulness and meditation, explore how our minds and nervous systems work, and try some simple grounding techniques, gentle breathwork, and body-awareness practices.

The idea is to discover that mindfulness doesn't have to be complicated, and there are plenty of ways to practice it without sitting still and trying to think about nothing.

A relaxed evening of learning, conversation, and tea, with a few practical things to take home and carry into the winter months.

🍂 Wednesday, November 4 | 6:30–8 PM
📍 Of Kin & Keep
$25 per person | Tea included

We're keeping this one small, with just 12 spaces available. No experience necessary!

To reserve your spot, send an e-Transfer to jennymacdonald11@hotmail.com with your name and "Mindfulness Workshop" in the message.

Looking forward to sharing this with you! 🤎

A little piece of my pottery collection has found its way to Cape Breton!!

I’m so happy to share that my work is now available at Of Kin & Keep in Sydney, Nova Scotia ⭐️

They’re a lovely little shop celebrating thoughtful, handcrafted things.

Cape Breton is where my family is from, so having my pottery find a home here feels especially meaningful. If you’re local, or find yourself in Cape Breton, I’d love for you to stop in, explore the shop, and say hello to my work.

Feeling grateful to be part of this little community. ✨

A little bit of my heart this Monday morning, because I’m still feeling so much love and gratitude after Lumière 🥹

I’ve always loved writing and poetry, and it was so special to see my words brought to life in a film. Seeing so many people really feel my words, come up to hug me, and share their gratitude with me meant the world. I loved seeing how the film made room for people to think about the women who shaped them, and what those women might make of the world we’re living in now.. there is still work to be done, but things are changing. 👁🧬

I loved seeing people come in together to watch it. In the quiet moments, one would reach over and rest a hand on the back of the woman beside her. Nothing needed to be said. That small gesture held so much. 🌀

It’s a reminder to share your art, because you never know who might hear it or where it might lead. Thank you to everyone who sent in a video of themselves, their family, or a woman that they love. Every one of those pieces helped bring the film to life. That’s the whole point: everything comes from a woman. 🌎

Thank you to my friends who came out to support me, and to @stephmcnamara.artist and @kristenherrington.art from the @curiosityclubcreative , who created a container where I could begin sharing my words and writing with the world. Thank you to @lumierecb for the opportunity to share this with my community, and most of all to @margaretjourdanstudios for hearing my words and asking to bring them to life. @unsupervisedkay , thank you for working at the shop to keep it opened late for my work to be showcased & everyone to shop! Oh and the flowers & wine 🥹 and @kaleygracie for bringing champagne and warm beverages ❤️ and @scrollingsue for bringing me a gift from my angel in perfect divine timing 🪶

It was such a magical night.

I’m sad I didn’t get to see all the other installations, but I’m looking forward to going through the pictures and hearing everyone’s stories this week. I didn’t take any photos, so if you have pictures or videos of @ofkinandkeep that night, please send them my way.

I hope everyone has a lovely Monday. The video will be coming to your feed soon 😏
