Hallo friends. Niyi has been going through it in recent times and any support (donations, shares especially) would be greatly appreciated. We shall add a link to our bio for easier access to the GFM page.

Thanks in advance!

We went on our first Canadian™️ camping experience this weekend organized by @blackcanadianhikers @diversenaturecollective and @blackoutdoors1 to Warsaw with 60+ other folks for the Tracing our Roots: Black in Nature camping experience. Here are 3 snaps from the weekend that cannot capture the immensity of our joy and gratitude for everyone who came together to make this possible 💖✨

img id1: the fire on our last night that satisfied our pyro needs and provided a portal for many great bondings and fire stories

img id2: the view from the Lookout point onto Rice Lake. we had a chance to sit by the water and enjoy its aura. looking forward to future intimacies

img id3: our abode for the weekend! this tent from @bipocoutdoorgearlibrary did such fantastic work providing respite from mosquitos, ticks, rain (mostly lol), cold (did its very best) and most importantly a place to rest after our very active days out and about! by @ofkobena

Introducing our artists ✨ Kobena - come watch, listen, and experience 1 of 16,000 possible paths at Dimensions of Opacity 🎧 bring your own device and headphones #ottawafringe2026

Kobena Ampofo (we / they) is a queer Akan anti-disciplinary artist developing a curiosity-led research practice around witchcraft, Akan mediumship, and the spirit realm.

Kobena was born on a dark Tuesday morning in Kumasi, Ghana. They grew up there and have since also lived in Accra, South Bend, Chicago, Brampton, and now Toronto. Our practice experiments with form and structure, from sculpture to digital collage to theatre. As we conjure new realities into being, and finding ways to communicate beyond (human) language, we hope our experiments and experiences support our goal to be come a more dynamic storyteller. We also aim to be a communal resource for the stories we are learning from elders and other ancestors. A selection of our work can be viewed on Instagram @nipazeen. by @ofkobena

a lil video of the cut day ceremonial times. Many thanks first to the spirit team @adi_moonstone and @sierrafromleone, then the local spirts of Toronto that got us to the water, and the spirits of the island that guided us to the tree presiding over this period of transformation.

video id: a video of 5 still images from the video of us cutting our locks of 4 years. interspersed are other shorter videos with several moments from that day, including the assembly of the team, a test of the water’s temperature, another test of the temperature - this time with more skin contact (tihi), and some lovely video portraits of my current head top. There is something incredibly nostalgic about returning to a look that is both incredibly familiar to ourself and others but also as completely different people by @ofkobena
