A long weekend in Escalante, Utah 🏜️

Utah’s scenery is absolutely breathtaking. The national parks have been on our list for a while, but I hadn’t appreciated quite how vast the natural beauty is here- stretching way beyond the national parks (which is just as well because most of the national parks are not very dog friendly!). Luckily there is so much to do with a dog here.

@oflandhotels was the perfect mix of luxury and ‘down to earth’: the comfiest bed, proper coffee to start the day, spa-like outdoor showers, an on-site food truck, cold plunge pool and heated jacuzzi, WiFi that actually works, evenings whistled away stargazing over a warm fire and the coolest ‘drive in’ cinema set up with vintage cars.

The cabins themselves are basic but cosy. We stayed in a tiny cabin, which doesn’t have its own bathroom, but has access to a spa-like communal bath-house with great hot outdoor showers, towels, and even Dyson hairdryers. Really excellent facilities- slightly inconvenient when it was chucking it down with rain- but all part of the fun! You can also choose a luxury cabin or vintage airstream. All allow dogs.

We loved that dogs are allowed basically everywhere on site. Callie enjoyed sunbathing on the deck by the firepit, joining us in the drive-in cinema and chilling by the pool. A food truck and cosy covered dining spot with fire pits means that dining outdoors with a dog is easy here (and warm even on cold evenings). And - rare for the US- they don’t charge an absurd additional pet free which is always appreciated. Special shout out to @kivakoffeehouse for great coffee, a dog friendly terrace and amazing views a- just along scenic byway 12.

There’s so much more to see - and we would definitely return. Escalante is easy reach to tens of state parks with amazing canyons and forests, access to The Grand Staircase National Monument, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Zion, Glen Canyon- the list goes on! It took us about 5 hours to drive from Salt Lake City (and it’s an amazing drive once you get out the city)- it’s a similar distance from Las Vegas.

I felt in love with this boutique hotel @oflandhotels in Escalante, UTAH 🏜️

We went on a mom-and-daughter trip where I drove a long distance by myself for the first time! 🥹❤️ I’m so glad I got out of my comfort zone because we had a GREAT time!

This place felt out of this world, and everyone was SO welcoming! It’s super kid- and pet-friendly, which I absolutely loved. 🐾❤️

It feels like you’re in the middle of a Western movie, transported back to the ’80s, AND somehow at a spa all at the same time. 😂✨ There are so many amazing things to do all in one place!

100% recommend! ❤️
