Huge gratitude to @houseofbooksandfriends for hosting our Manchester launch on Thurs night and for messaging us:
“Thank you for a wonderful event. We had an email from a customer this morning saying how much she and her friend enjoyed it. She said: ‘The ladies were so interesting and funny, we arrived a little low and departed a whole lot better!’
Which absolutely warms the cockles of our hardened hearts. The audience was a dream - a mix of friends and strangers we’d want to become friends, who after our readings and Q&A with the divine @oftenblonde asked so many fascinating questions about topics including the rise in misogny, modern-day relatiionships and singledom, menopause, women’s mental health and so much more that we wanted the conversation to go on all night. Especially in such a cosy, welcoming, historic venue and a bookshop sharing our ethos of bringing people together through its ‘chatty tables’, book clubs, events and so on.
This being us, a posse of us spilled into the nearest margarita den and the night finally concluded many, many hours later inhaling make-up tips from a glorious drag queen on Canal Street. Such is Manchester, such are we. Thank you to all who came and joined in and, as always, to all the team at @bedfordsq.publishers 🙏🏻 💪🏻

As we head down to London for a couple of launch events, here’s a reminder we also have a Manchester event at the wonderful @houseofbooksandfriends next Thursday - and there are a handful of tickets left (you can buy one with or without a book, which we can sign if you like). There’ll be a couple of sneaky tasters from the book and a Q&A about midlife and travel with the epic Emilie Powles. Please come and join us if you can 📕 🌍 and share with likeminded friends. 🙏🏻

Shoutout to the northerly continent — the work wife @traceydangerjourno_comedian and I will be at Manchester’s brilliant @houseofbooksandfriends on the launch date of our book Wayward Women, 29th Jan, doing readings, a Q&A with the epic @oftenblonde and signings. It’s a beautiful and fairly bijou venue so get your tickets (includes copy of book) now.

Last week we were lucky enough to see a preview screening of I, Daniel Blake with Dave Johns and Ken Loach. It is a glorious film. Funny, heartbreaking and just so damn good. It opens around the country this weekend. Go see it. You will thank me #taketissues #wearealldanielblake #oscars taken in HOME Mcr by @oftenblonde

The icing on the cake this evening was meeting the composer Vincenzo Lamagna @btflnoise (and his lovely gf). Also the conductor and Music Director, Gavin Sutherland, charming and talented. This is a wonderful production, stunning for eyes and ears. #enbgiselle #manchester taken in Palace Theatre & Opera House Manchester by @oftenblonde
