We are so excited to officially introduce a new chapter from the national organization Voices of Equity here at Ohio University!

Ohio University Voices of Equity aims to Educate, Inspire, and Empower students here on campus on issues of health and equity.

We have an active role in advocating and addressing issues in healthcare. To execute it we take action through educational workshops, accessible resources, powerful stories, and patient-centered advocacy.

Ohio University Voices of Equity 2026-2027 executive board🤝

Meet Allison, fourth-year from Columbus, Ohio studying Biology & Psychology with a minor in chemistry at Ohio University. As Co-President for Voices of Equity, she is passionate about addressing health disparities because it allows her to make a meaningful difference in her community. Beyond VOE, Allison is Lead Tutor for the STEM Academy at OU, member of Phi Delta Epsilon, and home health aide. She also serves her community as a hospice volunteer. Whether she’s tutoring, studying, hiking, or baking, Allison is driven to building more equitable health care systems. We’re so thankful to have her compassion and dedication on the VOE team!

Meet Ashley, third-year from Columbus, Ohio studying Biological Sciences with a Nutrition minor at Ohio University. As Co-President for Voices of Equity, she is enthusiastic about the opportunity and outreach abilities to create meaningful change in her communities and contribute to solving a nationwide issue through small impactful actions. Outside of VOE, she is the vice president of pre-SOMA and an undergraduate research assistant in the Zhu Osteoarthritis lab. When Ashley is not researching or contributing to her community, she enjoys baking, lifting, and doing nails. We’re so excited to see all that she brings to the VOE community!

Meet Gabe, a fourth-year from Columbus, Ohio studying Biological Sciences & Psychology on a pre med track at Ohio University. As Director of Philanthropy for Voices of Equity, he is dedicated to highlighting underrepresented groups and the barriers they face in achieving and maintaining good health. As a future physician, VOE has opened his eyes to disparities and will help him better understand how to recognize and address these barriers as a future physician. Apart from VOE, Gabe is a member of PhiDE, head research assistant in the RAP lab, research assistant in the Carrol lab, and PAL leader for ochem 2. When he’s not researching or studying, Gabe participates in intramural volleyball and pickleball. We’re so grateful to have his commitment on our team!

Beginning October 20th, Voices of Equity chapters will be promoting a week of action focused on our national initiative: Health Equity in the Lens of Adduction.

We’re cooperating with our amazing partners, Young People in Recovery and The Phoenix to raise awareness about addiction through education, outreach, and philanthropic events.

Get to know Ian, founder and co-president of Ohio University’s first undergraduate chapter of Voices of Equity! 🥽💚

He is passionate about showcasing his beliefs through action, not just words. Outside of VoE, you can find Ian around campus at the TEA and ROAR Labs, where he works as a research assistant. He also serves as Public Relations Chair for Pre-SOMA and Treasurer for DOSES. He also loves the outdoors, going to the gym, playing video games, and music.
