"Ohno-ican Me"
Inspired by another film from 1992, American Me. I have been trying to incorporate my self portrait character into some of my designs. In this way, I am able to add a piece of myself, while making the image a little more interesting to look at.
So, I rewatched this film recently and there was so much I didn't remember about it. It is not for the faint of heart I can say that much. I don't remember the film being so brutal. I do remember this film being a bit controversial in its depiction of the Mexican Mafia and prison life, so if you plan to watch it, maybe put the kids to bed first. Lol

This mural you gotta see in person! I started it the weekend before Christmas and tried to knock it out before the new year but we got hit with some rain days so it pushed me back a little. I was able to finish up the 1st week of January and I'm pretty happy with it. This is located at the Main Walls, 1917 N. Main, next to @alva_graphics Thank you @w3r3on3 for facilitating another amazing collective jam with so many incredible artists!
As always, thanks for looking! Don't forget to like and share!

Really happy with how this Bob Valenzuela(actor @esai_morales )from La Bamba came out. La Bamba was one of those classic films I grew up to. Me and my cousins to this day still quote Bob lines. I had a blast painting at @divineshineee for the @divineartcoalition . The community really turned out for this one. It was great choppin it up with every single person who walked by and yelled "Ritchieeeee!" Or "How could you do this to Richie? Richie? I did this to me okay!" And all the different quotes people were happy to share with me. I rewatched the film this week and it still holds up. Thank you for looking at my work!!!

"Initiation is over Michael"
Located at the @dangalang76 residence.
Painted this about 3 weeks ago. I'm very happy with this one. Of course I had to rewatch the movie to get inspiration and of course the nostalgia was exploding throughout my brain. This was probably my favorite vampire movie as a kid. Keefer and Jason made being a vampire look super badass with their "Sleep all day, party all night" mantra. Also, I've never seen anyone rock the saxophone so hard and still seem like the most masculine guy in the building more than Tim Capello. I want to paint another Lost Boys themed mural. Who's wall is next?

When I was a teenager growing up on the Southside, I got kicked out of high school because I got involved in the gang culture of the 90's and it began to lead me down a very destructive path. I met @deleon_artz at another school and he and I were the only artists in the school. We would draw graffiti and share our work with each other and I remember him always cracking me up. We reconnected last year for the 1st time in 30 years and low and behold, we are both muralists. Last night he and I got to paint together against some of the sickest artists to ever do it @arsek_erase This was a full circle moment for me and I am forever grateful to @meenr_one and @buffalobayoumuralfestival for making this happen. Just another bench mark in my life that I will be riding high on for a while! Thank you to our new friends for bringing the heat and the good vibes and to everyone who came out to support the culture.Teenage me would be proud. Peace and Love to everyone following me on my journey!

Had to make some repairs and repaint some areas on a mural from 2 years ago. Thanks to Layne from Facet Seven for reaching out before the damage got worse and more costly. I was glad to come and fix this up so that people can enjoy looking at it while working on their fitness goals!
Thanks for looking folks!

This unobstructed view of the new Virani Hall and McNair Hall doesn't actually exist. You can find photos of the buildings from different angles or from an aerial view but not the whole structure from this frontal view. It is partly covered by James Turrell's " Twilight Epiphany" or multiple trees at street level. This design was conceptualized by @velocityoftears and we collaborated on the final mock up using multiple reference photos. There was no ventilation so I had to paint most of it by hand. The motion blur and the glow of the text and the clouds were painted by spray paint, using the water based formula from Montana 94 and Liquitex, which for the record I hate both of those spray paints now. I'm glad I could bring this one to life for the fine people at @rice_business @riceuniversity
Thanks to Kevin for managing this project, helping to expedite design, the trust and giving me the opportunity to beautify that space. Thank you to @_vivet_ for assisting on the 2nd week. I could not have completed this in such a short time without you. Thank you to Mrs. Lynder for keeping me caffeinated and to all the staff who had such kind words to say while I was painting.
You can find this mural just above the light sculpture in the rotunda on the 3rd floor.
Thanks for looking!

Had a blast painting one of my favorite authors of all time for this week. Shaun called and asked me if I would paint Hunters famous quote about Houston so that he could put it at the entrance of Dan Electro's. Thanks again Shaun for the trust on this one! We got to unveil this piece last night between India Tigers in Texas and Alex Maas of the Black Angels set and what an amazing show. Shout out once again to the wonderful @_vivet_ for assisting me painting the text and for breaking my fall when I fell off the ladder 😂😂😂
The quote goes as followed:
"Houston is a cruel, crazy town on a filthy river in East Texas with no zoning laws and a culture of sex, money and violence. It's a shabby, sprawling metropolis ruled by brazen women, crooked cops and super-rich pansexual cowboys who live by the code of the west-- which can mean just about anything you need it to mean, in a pinch" --HST
Thanks for looking folks!

3 weeks ago I was honored to paint this detailed mural for @rice_business new Virani and McNair Hall building. I had two weeks to paint it. I was just shy of finishing it before the opening on September 10th by about 6 hours, but I was still able to complete it in less than 2 weeks. I wish I had gotten more videos of me painstakingly hand painting the buildings but I was in a rush and just was not my priority so it got missed. I painted the motion blur, and the glow of the lettering with the water based formula from MtN 94 and Liquitex since there was zero ventilation. The rest was painted with brush and latex paint. I don't usually hand paint murals like this, especially with all the straight lines that required tapping off but Im happy with the results. I wish I would have had a month to spend on this design but I will be posting some pics so you can see the details I was still able to add. Thank you to @_vivet_ for the assist on the buildings and for paint downtown, I could not have done it without you! 🖤🖤 🖤 This building is open to the public so stop by and take a look sometime. It's on the 3rd floor of the McNair Hall.
Do you have an idea you need to bring to life? Holler at me and let's make it happen!
