A follow up to the original Grief Butter comic.

It’s been a year since our friend Steve passed away. We miss him, and the grief is still there. We’ve folded new joys into our life, though it’s always a little sad he’s not here to share them with us. But, hey, we can hold both joy and sadness at the same time. We can feel complicated about it. That’s A-Okay.

Ruth Chan is an award-winning author and illustrator of comics and children’s books, including Prior to illustrating full time, she spent her teens in China and a decade working with youth and families in underserved communities. She is a proud Canadian who now lives and works in NYC.

Ruth’s featured title is her graphic memoir, Uprooted: A Memoir About What Happens When Your Family Moves Back, which has earned a Boston Globe-Horn Book Nonfiction Honor, an SCBWI Golden Kite Award and Honor, and named Best Book of 2024 by NPR. Perfect for fans of New Kid and A First Time for Everything, Uprooted is a joyful and tearful debut middle grade graphic memoir about one girl being uprooted when she moves to Hong Kong, a place where her family fits in but, for her, it’s nothing like home.
