This little one was ✨6 weeks✨ old, and I could tell straight away that sleepy, curled-up newborn poses were exactly what his parents were hoping for.

At 6 weeks, they can definitely be a little more of a challenge… but if you enjoy a challenge like I do, we give it a go!

And this is your little reminder that it’s never too late to book a newborn session. 🤍

Every baby is different, and while newborn sessions are often booked around the first couple of weeks, I’m always happy to work with older babies too. We simply follow their lead and see what they’re happy to do.

So if you’ve missed the “ideal” newborn window, don’t think you’ve missed your chance. You might just get some beautiful, sleepy photos anyway.✌🏼 taken in Witney, Oxfordshire by @ojpstudio

“Can we bring our toddler too?”

YES. Always yes. 🤍

I get asked this all the time when families book a newborn or cake smash session.

And I completely understand the worry:

What if they don’t behave?
What if they won’t sit still?
What if they don’t want to be in the photos?

I have 3 children myself, so I know that feeling of wanting to include everyone, while wondering how on earth you’re going to manage it all.

But your toddler doesn’t need to sit perfectly, smile on cue or “behave” for the camera.

They can run around.
They can need a snack.
They can have a wobble.
They can decide they’re absolutely not interested.

We’ll just go with it!

Watching this little clip back absolutely cracks me up because, at first glance, Oscar looks like he’s terrifying his little sister 😂

But I promise you, that could not be further from the truth.

He was the sweetest, most helpful big brother!

So if you’re wondering whether you should bring your older child to your newborn or cake smash session…

Bring them. I’ve got them. 🤍

Natural. Relaxed. Beautiful.

Pretty much sums up how I like my newborn sessions to be.

Baby doesn’t need to sleep the whole time, and you don’t need to worry if they need a feed, a cuddle or a little break.

We just go with it and capture your baby as they are, along with all those little moments with you that you’ll want to remember.

No pressure. No rushing. Just a lovely couple of hours with your new little person. 🤍

Oh how I love that we got to capture both sides of it - the excitement of waiting for him, and then the reality of having him home, tiny and sleepy, with his best mate never too far away. 🫶🏼

We actually did this in-home newborn session a whole year ago (I know, I’m very behind with my sessions on the grid 😂), but I thought I’d share it as I often get asked if I offer newborn sessions at home.

The answer is yes!

With 10+ years behind the camera, I’m very comfortable working in all sorts of homes and lighting situations, so you don’t need a Pinterest-perfect tidy house or loads of natural light. I’ll find it and make it work. taken in Witney, Oxfordshire by @ojpstudio
