Taasisi ya Okoa New Generation (ONG) imeadhimisha Siku ya Kimataifa ya Mtoto wa Kike mwaka 2026 wilayani Monduli, mkoani Arusha, kwa kuwakutanisha wasichana, viongozi wa kimila na dini, walimu, wanafunzi na wadau mbalimbali kujadili haki za mtoto wa kike na mikakati ya kukabiliana na mimba na ndoa za utotoni. Maadhimisho hayo yamefanyika leo, Oktoba 23, katika Chuo cha Maendeleo ya Jamii Tengeru (TICD), Kampasi ya Monduli, yakilenga kuhamasisha jamii kushiriki katika kumlinda mtoto wa kike na kukuza fursa zake za maendeleo.

Akizungumza kwa niaba ya Mkurugenzi wa ONG, Afisa Mradi wa taasisi hiyo, Zawadi Kaaya, amesema kuwakutanisha wadau mbalimbali ni sehemu ya mkakati wa taasisi hiyo wa kujenga ushirikiano katika mapambano dhidi ya mimba na ndoa za utotoni. Ameeleza kuwa wadau hao, wakiwemo mabalozi, wanafunzi, walimu, viongozi wa kimila, wanasheria na viongozi wa dini, wana nafasi muhimu katika kuelimisha jamii, kulinda haki za watoto wa kike na kuchangia upatikanaji wa suluhisho la changamoto zinazowakabili.

Kaaya amesema ONG pia imetafsiri kwa lugha ya Kiswahili mwongozo wa kurejesha shuleni wanafunzi waliokatiza masomo katika shule za msingi na sekondari, uliokuwa umeandaliwa kwa lugha ya Kiingereza. Mwongozo huo umekabidhiwa kwa Amina Maulidi, Afisa Elimu ya Watu Wazima na Elimu Nje ya Mfumo Rasmi, kwa lengo la kusaidia juhudi za kuwawezesha wanafunzi walioacha masomo kurejea shuleni na kuendelea na elimu yao, hatua inayolenga kupanua fursa za maendeleo kwa watoto wa kike.

Kwa upande wake, Afisa wa Dawati la Jinsia na Watoto la Jeshi la Polisi wilayani Monduli, Tunu Pingu, ametoa wito kwa wazazi na wananchi kushirikiana na vyombo vya sheria kwa kutoa taarifa na ushahidi kuhusu matukio ya kuwaozesha watoto katika umri mdogo, mimba za utotoni na ubakaji. Amesisitiza kuwa ushiriki wa jamii ni muhimu katika kuhakikisha matukio hayo yanaripotiwa na hatua za kisheria zinachukuliwa dhidi ya wahusika kwa mujibu wa sheria. by @okoanewgeneration

A powerful highlight from our celebration: student panelists from three different schools took center stage for a fiery Girl-Led Panel Discussion on the impact of child marriage, child protection, and safeguarding girls' rights.

This was not just a conversation, it was an undeniable declaration to the community and the nation that when girls are given a platform, protection, and the right guidance, they can achieve their dreams and actively contribute to the development of their families and society.

From thought-provoking presentations to engaging Q&A sessions from their peers, these brave young leaders proved that when girls speak, the entire nation listens by @okoanewgeneration

Knowledge of the law is a powerful shield, and representation matters! During our celebration, we were honored to have advocate and legal practitioner join us, proudly wearing her official legal gown to mentor, protect, and inspire our girls on their fundamental rights, especially their equal right to education.

Her attire carried a profound message: to show these young girls that their dreams are valid and completely achievable.
Sharing her personal journey, she revealed that she once stood in their shoes facing numerous obstacles and societal hardships. Without resilience, proper guidance, and inspiration from women who walked before her, she wouldn't have reached where she is today.

Alongside providing career mentorship, she walked participants through key protective laws and shared step-by-step guidance on how girls suffering from abuse or discrimination can access free legal aid.

"No girl should suffer in silence or be denied her education because of her gender. If I made it through the storm, you can too!"

A representative from the Police Gender and Children Desk took the mic to address the heavy impact of Child marriage, Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and child abuse on girls' education, development, and future dreams.

While the desk actively receives and prosecutes child marriage and abuse cases, a major obstacle remains: parents and community members attempting to settle child marriage and abuse cases "at home" in secret.
"Ending child marriage and violence is not a family negotiation, it is a legal matter. Settling these cases privately destroys our girls' education and steals their future. We must stop trading our daughters' dreams for home settlements."

The representative urged the community to break this dangerous silence and outlined clear, step-by-step reporting channels for cases of rape, violence, and forced marriage.

Justice for the girl child begins when the community chooses to protect her, not her abusers!

Ms. Dorah, a dedicated Community Education Ambassador (CEA) from Esiralei Ward, took center stage on our panel discussion to shed light on an urgent issue: how stigma and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) impact the education of girls with disabilities.

Dorah shared her firsthand experience working directly at the grassroots level to educate communities, break deep-seated stigma, and champion the fundamental rights and inclusion of children and girls with disabilities, a group that is too often overlooked and excluded.
"Girls with disabilities face a double barriers, stigma from society and increased risk of GBV. But when we equip communities with the right knowledge and create safe environments, these brave girls don't just stay in school; they thrive and lead." — Ms. Dorah

Her message is clear: No girl should be left behind. Including girls with disabilities in education is not charity, it is a human right.
