🔴 The @photofringe symposium is coming to @post_creatives on the 30th of October. Speakers include Brighton based artists and @uobphotography and University of Sussex researchers whose work addresses the themes of circulation of images. I have the pleasure of helping with putting this together, and had a sneak peak into the fascinating talks which are coming. I hope to see you there ❤️

🔴 How exciting to have my work longlisted for the @formatfestival FORMAT27 Open Call. "Ala I Ola" is a 60m colour photogram made with my twin sister @wicked.seer earlier this year exploring themes of connection and play. It is part of my broader doctoral research project looking at cameraless photography as a feminist method which I am undertaking at @uobphotography

🔴 Photography Reading Group - a little space we created recently to share our love for photography scholarship. We agree each month on a chapter or a paper to read and meet over a pint to discuss. This summer we also organised visits to art galleries, saw Nancy Holt, Ana Mandieta and Tracy Emin. Really good fun with this lovely bunch!

🔴 This was such a wonderful symposium on experimental photography in Bristol organised by @folkhousedarkroom and @womenaltphotogroup

I really enjoyed reading a paper about translucent bodies. I loved learning about pinhole cameras, first from @marie__e_c with reflections on time and distorted immediacy of the live projection, before moving to @we_leocque whose camera made from her grandmother's "grip" (an old Jamaican term for suitcase) reminded us of people whose trajectories were drawn by the empire. Amazing talk by @noa_madethis explored the ways of addressing climate change and pollution using cameraless techniques with assertion and urgency. @julie_corcoran showed us thoughtful and beautiful work made with experimental developers which source materials remind us of the global trade of goods and the extend to which we still experience the marks of the British Empire's involvement in the slave trade. Lastly, @riya_panwar_ showed us beautiful and ephemeral living photographs, asking questions about our relationship with the natural world and the temporarily of the photograph.

Thank you, @photosophiaus and @elizabethransom for putting this event together, making us feel welcome and giving us the space to meet each other.

We had a strong representation from the @uobphotography again with @noa_madethis and myself presenting, and @costanza_santilli showing her beautiful book in the Show and Tell part of the day.

Two Tepers - we figured out the best way to get into @tate is to imitate Frida Kahlo's 'Two Fridas', but we decided to imitate artists who imitate Frida Kahlo, since we're already a double of each other. by @ola.teper
