IT'S THAT TIME OF THE MONTH AGAIN and we are celebrating today's Full Moon by celebrating women and gender non-conforming artists and photographers in #artherstory

Today we are celebrating the women behind the famous men - the wife's, daughters and and cousins behind many famous works who never got the credit.

Thereza Dillwyn Llewelyn was a Welsh-based selenographer (moon scientist). Coming from a family of botanists and astronomers, Thereza was in an unusual position for Victorian women where she could pursue science.

For her 16th birthday her father gifted her an astronomical observatory - Penllergare observatory which still exists today. The interest in astronomy was shared between her and her father John. Thereza contributed to many weather data submissions to the scientific bodies.

It is believed that Thereza is behind one of the first photographs of the moon - above shown signed with her father's initials. She recalled inher memoir that when her father wanted to photograph the moon, it was Thereza who held the telescope steady throughout the exposure time.

Closer to home on all counts. Last year @twicelynamed and the gang of amazing artists she’s in, @difficult_darkroom_womxn, staged at exhibition of their work at @theregencytownhouse. Adapt and Adjust was ace. I only took two photos though, which is pretty poor husbanding.

Reviewing the projects I did last year, sometimes finding photos I skipped over first time around, looking for trends, improvements, things I got wrong, is an important part of my practice. For the next few weeks, I’m going to try and post one pic from every shoot I did in 2021, collating them into themes that kept popping up.

*A long overdue thank you*

Thank you to everyone who came down to one of our private views a couple of weeks ago. We had two great evenings surrounded by so many lovely people, after two years of turmoil it was very special to celebrate with you all.

Spending the week at the town house with my fellow DDW will forever hold a special place in my heart, never have I had such an enriching and special week, so much loveliness filled the air, and it was contagious chatting and giggling with you all.

I'm feeling very excited for all our next steps

Keep your eyes peeled for so many exciting #womxnsupportingwomxn things to come.

Special thank you to Phil at @theregencytownhouse, for being the loveliest host and taking care of us so well. And thank you to all our lovely friends and family for helping us put up the show, taxi our things around and filling us with coffee and croissants whist we invigilate. And to everyone at the @uobphotography, all our lovely techs and tutors. Extra special thanks to Asa and Rachel for writing for our catalogue and for being bad ass womxn who have inspired us all.

Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing some more details of the books we have made, as well as some very exciting takeovers starting soon
