2026 — Our Last Year Here
For the past 10 years, The Old Red Barn has been home.

But what many didn’t see…
is that for the last four years, something has been shifting behind the scenes.

The barn sits on my parents’ dairy farm.
When we started, we believed we would one day grow into both — the dairy farm and the tourism business, side by side.
But life doesn’t always unfold the way you plan.

The succession of the farm at Glen Park Holsteins wasn’t meant for us.
And that meant… we would have to move.
At first, it was truly devastating.

This place holds our story.
Our beginnings.
Our risk.
Our growth.
Our family.
Letting go hasn’t been easy.
It’s been painful, with a lot still uncertain.

But in the middle of it all… clarity came.
As much as we love this place, we’ve also felt the limitations.
We haven’t been able to expand infrastructure.
We’ve been confined to a seasonal model.
We’ve outgrown what this space can hold.

And maybe… that is the point.
Because what’s next requires more.
More land.
More freedom.
More possibility.

We’re now searching for our next farm.

A place where we can grow food right on the land and serve it directly to our guests.
Where the restaurant isn’t just seasonal. Where we can host accommodations, farm stays, workshops, and retreats. Where the vision can expand in the ways we’ve only dreamed about until now.

So while it’s hard to say, we are moving on from Glen Park Holsteins.

But we don’t believe this is the end. We are excited about what the future holds for The Old Red Barn… with different soil to grow in.
And through it all, we hold onto this: We trust that God is leading us to what’s next. We know that He is the author of our story. He holds the pen… & we trust Him that it will all work out.

We’re already working on what’s next.
You might even say… we’re enroute to something more.

If you’ve ever wanted to experience a Farm to Flame dinner, or come back one more time, this is the year. Your support in this pivotal season means everything to us as we take this next step.

If you know of a property that could be the next home for this vision, or another opportunity in agritourism we would love to hear from you. 🔥 by @oldredbarnleduc

Ten years ago, The Old Red Barn was just a dream to combine our love of hospitality and agriculture.

Over the coming weeks we’re taking you back through every single year of The Old Red Barn.

10 years of highs, lows, the struggle and the success.

Each post will feature photos from that year and a few stories you probably haven’t heard before.

Some of these photos have never been shared.

Some of them remind us how far we’ve come.

And some might surprise you.

Start with Year One tomorrow.

Follow along and take the journey with us! ✨

Great Kitchen Party 2026 — What a night! 🥂🔥
First and foremost, congratulations to every chef who stepped into the kitchen and put themselves out there. It takes passion, dedication, and a whole lot of heart to compete at this level, and I have nothing but respect for everyone who made this such an incredible evening.
Chef Blair — congratulations on taking home GOLD! 🥇 I know this has been a long time coming for you, and I couldn't be happier to see you achieve this. I'm so proud of you and truly honoured to share a room, and the podium with you. This moment is well deserved, and it's been a privilege to be part of the journey.
Chef Jason — sharing the podium with you back-to-back years has been something special. It's been one hell of a run, and I'm grateful for the competition, the camaraderie, and the memories we've made along the way. Here's to continuing to push each other and raising the bar every time we step into that room.
To all the chefs who competed, thank you for making this such a fun, intense, and challenging evening. You pushed me to my limits, made me think differently, and challenged me to dig deeper, trust my instincts, and become a better chef. That's what competition is all about — surrounding yourself with talented people who inspire you to keep growing.
I'm incredibly proud of my team. The long hours, the hard work, the challenges, and everything you've pushed through never go unnoticed. Thank you for believing in me, encouraging me, having my back, and standing beside me through it all. No chef gets to stand on that stage alone, and I'm fortunate to have people in my corner who give so much of themselves to help make these moments possible.
And to my wife, Kelsi— thank you for supporting this crazy chef life of mine, believing in my dreams, and standing behind me through every early morning, late night, competition, and moment of doubt. You're always there in my corner, reminding me, "No, you can do this." Your belief in me means more than words can ever explain. These dreams might be mine, but your support is a huge part of what makes them possible. ❤️ by @oldredbarnleduc

Something BIG is happening tonight!! 🔥 👨‍🍳

For the 20th anniversary, @greatkitchenparty invited past Edmonton podium finishers back for an All-Star competition October 1st at the Edmonton Convention Center. Each chef will prepare roughly 500 plates. The competition is being judged blind, meaning the judges don’t know whose dish they’re tasting. Dishes are scored on taste, presentation, texture, technical achievement, beverage pairing and “wow factor.”

Friday night was our final Farm to Flame dinner of the season, and our final one at this location. After 10 years of gathering guests in this 1950s barn, there are a lot of emotions wrapped up in this season…

From the very beginning, our purpose has been about more than a meal. We’ve always wanted to tell the story of the farmer through food. To connect people to where their food comes from, and introduce them to the hands that feed us.

As many of you know, we are moving. Where we are headed is still very much in progress, but we know this isn’t the end of the story…it’s simply the beginning of a new one. ✨

We may be closing this chapter, but the people, stories, friendships and fire we’ve built here are coming with us. 🔥❤️

We have faith that God’s got something good planned. And we are so thankful for every guest who has gathered around our tables, every farmer who has shared their story, and every staff member who has helped us bring this barn to life, night after night. Thank you to @somersetpumpkinfarm for being our feature farmer!

Same fire. New ground. Enroute to our next chapter!🔥

Travel is always evolving — but the things that make a journey memorable haven’t changed.

The people you meet. The places you discover. The stories, traditions and flavours that help you understand somewhere new.

This #WorldTourismDay, we’re celebrating the role food plays in connecting travellers more deeply with the places they visit — from the farmers, fishers and makers behind our ingredients to the chefs, restaurants and communities bringing them to the table.

Because some of the best ways to experience a place start with what’s on the plate. 🍴🌎

Here’s to travelling with curiosity, supporting local and discovering the incredible tastes of place found across Canada. by @oldredbarnleduc

Our team. ❤️ 📸

This photo hits a little differently knowing last night was our final Farm to Flame dinner of the season.

Before we close out this chapter, we want to celebrate the people who make The Old Red Barn what it is.

We are so incredibly blessed by each person on this team. They are a loyal, hardworking, enthusiastic group that genuinely care about hospitality and local food.

There are so many moving parts behind every Farm to Flame dinner, and these wonderful people show up with joy, jump in wherever needed, and give so much of themselves to make each evening happen.

We truly love and appreciate every one of you. Thank you for being part of this team and for bringing the barn to life, dinner after dinner. ❤️🔥

We couldn’t do it without you!!

Farm to Flame Harvest Dinner -September 24 🌻

Last night, we welcomed Nikki & Chris from @ladys.hat.farm as our featured farmers. 🌸
Chris, also President of the @cooperative_flower_network , challenged us with a simple question: We think about where our beef and vegetables come from—but when we walk into the grocery store, do we ever stop and ask, “Where did this flower come from?”

Their beautiful locally grown flowers filled our tables, (and plates) with joy!

Our sunflower path to the barn finally came into bloom, just in time for harvest season! 🌻🌻🌻 It was a beautiful evening in the loft—filled with warmth, good company, incredible food.

We hope you left inspired to eat local. Know your farmer. And don’t forget the flowers.

A Fall Harvest Evening at the Old Red Barn 🍂 September 17 was a beautiful autumn night at the barn. Guests gathered in the loft of our 1950s barn for an evening celebrating Alberta’s harvest.

With Sous Chef Trevor Moan @pattylorax leading the team, the menu was a true taste of the season:
🌮 Cowboy Cauldron Old Red Barn Beef Brisket Tacos
🔥 Caramelized Onion Flatbread — Confit garlic & Black Sheep Bacon Jam
🥗 Smoked Beet Salad — goat cheese & local greens
🥕 Fire Roasted Bison Cheek — Rangeland bison, country pumpkin, rainbow carrot & saskatoon gastrique
🎃 Pumpkin Pie Crème Brûlée
And of course, Delilah the Beer Pony made her rounds, delivering drinks to the guests. 🐴🍺

There was something pretty special about dining in the loft while the harvest carried on outside…farmers at work, combines in the fields, and a table full of food grown and raised right here in Alberta.🤎🌾

Go pick a pumpkin, support a farmer, and enjoy a little piece of fall on the farm! 🌻🤎

We highly recommend making the trip out to visit our friends at @somersetpumpkinfarm ! It’s such a beautiful atmosphere with kids’ pumpkin themed games, tons of photo opportunities, a sunflower field, pumpkin smashing and so much more. 🌻☀️🎃
They even have an ice cream stand and other local products available to purchase while you’re there!

It’s been a hard year for farmers due to the record rainfall, so this fall, consider supporting a wonderful farm family and making some memories while you’re at it. 🤎
