NEW HOURS! 🤘

We’ve updated our hours so we’re now opening at noon (12pm) Wednesday to Sunday.
And yes! We still have the occasional event on Mondays and Tuesdays (check our event calendar for the latest).

And because you often ask… swipe for some of the most frequently asked questions. Hopefully this clarifies some things but drop us a comment with any other questions on your mind and we’ll answer! 🫀🫀 by @oldspeakbar

Have to admit- last night was so much fun! I really love when I get to share space with other creatives. It’s inspiring to hear their story, and the energy was good. Also ended up walking away with a really beautiful book of poetry I’m excited to dive into this morning. Thank you @oldspeakbar for inviting me to share my work 🧡Also thank you @surelsplace for setting up such a wonderful first Friday! If you happened to miss the show- it will be hanging through the end of November. There are also so many unique books in here that you have to check out!

This month @alliterationales is sneaking away (super subtlety) from our taproom at @oldspeakbar and joining in for some cool community events. 🍻 Find us Saturday, Oct 3 over at @dogtopiagreenbelt for their DOGTOBERFEST 🐶 (pups welcome!!), and on Saturday, Oct 17 we’re heading to Meridian for our favorite FRESHIES & FRIENDS event with Loose Screw. @loosescrewbeerco_downtown by @oldspeakbar

Our cozy little “Stars Hollow After Dark” meetup at Oldspeak was quite the lovely time 🤎 we had some yummy drinks, bought some books, bedazzled books, junk journaled and even made some junky zipper book cases!

Literary fall, y’all 🤠 📚 🍷

Upcoming events with the Lit Room include: weekly Write Clubs on Fridays, the beloved 💕 Write Drunk Edit Sober 💕, a community READ OUT LOUD event where we all take part in reading Orwell’s 1984 from start to end together 🤯 and a seasonal Book Tasting with curated wines hosted with our friends @parcerowinebar 🍷 (this coming Tuesday!) where you get a flight of four wines and get to pick a banned book to bring home.

COLLAGE NIGHT IS BACK ✂️⚡️

You guys loved the last one so much, we decided we had to do it again, this time at @oldspeakbar !

Come spend the evening cutting, pasting, experimenting, and making something weird and wonderful. No experience needed, just show up ready to create. I’ll have plenty of collage materials to dig through, and Oldspeak will have drinks (and books!) available for purchase.

Garden City’s Surel L. Mitchell Live-Work-Create District is lively with artists, art studios, and businesses year-round, but especially during free First Friday events. It's a great way to explore the local art scene, with exhibitions, readings, and performances at various locations.
On October 2nd, Surel's Place is closing it's special ceramics exhibition, "Illuminated by Fire."
Plus, it's the 5th anniversary of "Illuminated," an immersive experience that takes place during our October First Friday from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. Artists from all different backgrounds produce projection and light art for the public to navigate through and explore the different ideas through their visual media.

It's the First Friday 6-hole Open Studio Scramble from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Travel around to the 6 holes and avoid artistic barriers to getting your ball in the hole. Then bring your card back to Illuminate at Surel's Place, hold it under the black light, to see if you won a prize!
