Here’s to HER. 🥂

In support of Pour One Out for Roe, a Dobbs anniversary wine tour organized by @theprovoiceproject, we’re featuring @herwinecollection with special pricing. All proceeds from HER wines sold at Parcero today will be donated back to @theprovoiceproject.

The tour moves through Garden City, stop by stop, with Worth of a Woman on display from 4-9PM. The exhibit shares stories, data, and community voices around women’s healthcare in Idaho and beyond.

Parcero is honored to be the closing stop, arrive by 8PM, with passport turn-in, a raffle drawing, and closing remarks from a powerful lineup of speakers.

HER says it best: To every woman, every story, every shared glass.

ABOUT THE TRANSLATOR: D KOPEC

D Kopec is a poet and translator from Idaho’s Treasure Valley. Fascinated with form and structure inherent within or delivered to language, D’s poems can be found in Oroboro, Paper Plane, and Equatorial Mag. As a translator, D has given bilingual readings of the Polish sonnets of Adam Mickiewicz and the Italian anti-fascist free verse of the Antigruppo Siciliano at ALTA, the American Literary Translation Association’s yearly conference.

D is a firm believer in literature and poetry’s depth and ability to cross language boundaries that seem uncrossable. As a workshop facilitator, D leans into this depth and gently invites their students to do the same— D is constantly surprised at how accessible crafting a great translation or poem can be.

Join us on Wednesday, September 10th for a translation workshop. In this workshop, join D as they introduce you to the world of literary translation, and guide you through the process of translating a poem on your own. Beginners welcome. Limited spots available (link in bio).

I spent most of the week in Boise for work, but on Thursday was able to take a couple hours for myself and I went to visit @oldspeakbar and I’m so glad I could check it out!

I got myself a cider flight and perused one of the coolest bookshops I’ve ever seen. If you’re ever in the Boise area, Old Speak is a MUST!

Dug into my affirmation bucket this week.
Sometimes even when things are going well the grief pool is large and hard to swim from.

This week marked some large milestones I never in my life thought I would have to endure, but I also told my therapist “I didn’t know I was this resilient”

I know it’s growth even when I wish I didn’t have to, I know it’s self acceptance even though I’m having to learn new neural pathways to have it happen.
Even when it’s hard I’m grateful for this chance to learn who I am, and what I’m worth to me.

What an absolutely wild ride. Equal parts Bunny, Yellowface, and Natural Beauty this debut novel kept me on my toes.

Creepy, hilarious, astute, searing!

This one follows Julie Chan, a disenfranchised and disillusioned millennial wondering why her life is so off course. Her twin, who was adopted by an affluent white family, seems to have it all figured out, at least according to social media.

An out of body experience changes everything. I don’t want to give away too much but if you liked any of the books I mentioned at the beginning of this review, you’ll love this. Def check the content warnings if you’re on the fence! It is not for the faint of heart.

📕 Thursday (6/25) our OG book club (aka the Boise Banned) meets up to discuss All American Boys by Jason Reynolds. This August will mark four years of the banned book club and five years of book bans in Idaho. Stay tuned for more info on what all we have planned for August. 🌞 🤝 WEEKLY WRITE CLUB.
Friday has become a beloved ritual. Friends and acquaintances come together to cowork at the book bar. Work on a pet project, sip on a cold brew or cider, and have a community sounding board to refine your ideas. It starts at 11:11 but the bookstore opens at 10am.
