"At Oldways, we look to the past – the healthy old ways of heritage diets around the world – Mediterranean, Asian, Latin American and African Heritage Diets. You may be surprised that these traditional diets have as much in common as they do differences.

It’s true that Turkish cuisine and Italian food are not the same. However, take a closer look and you’ll find that the plant-based pattern is remarkably similar. The same is true within Asian, Latin American and African heritage cuisines, which are each shaped around a similar plant-forward pattern

Let’s look at flatbreads and rice and beans. They’re both great examples of how there’s just as much similar as there are differences among healthy foods and dishes around the world."

When my husband asks, “What’s for dinner?” I know that he’s not actually asking what’s for dinner.

He is asking what he and I have to do between now and dinnertime to be ready to put food on the table. But the household has been running smoothly, so I answer with what both of us want to hear.

“It’s a reheat,” I reply.

🧀🌍 Some stories begin in Legasa and continue in Madrid.

In 2023, we welcomed a group of American travellers to our cheese dairy in Legasa for the first time, thanks to @oldways_pt, an organisation that promotes culinary travel experiences.

In 2025, they returned during another journey through northern Spain. And this year, their travels brought them to Madrid, where we had the pleasure of welcoming them to Kamiku Quesería Bar for another tasting of our cheeses. 🤍

Three visits, two locations and one shared passion: discovering local gastronomy, meeting the people behind each product and sharing special moments around the table.

Thank you, @oldways_pt, for continuing to include us in your journeys and for helping us share a little piece of Navarra across the Atlantic.

We love it when our paths cross again! 🐑🧀
