Join Amy Anthony, Andreas Keller, and Tessa Liebman for a Scented Evening at Fugue Gallery on Wednesday September 23rd from 6pm to 9pm.

You’ll be invited to interact with elements from Tessa’s Multisensory Experience Kits in a self-guided exploration. The kits, which Tessa started during the pandemic, are centered around a specific theme and provide a sensorial alternative to the usual content of the attention economy.

Within the gallery’s contemplative space, you can enter a one‑on‑one ritual of symbol and scent guided by Amy, a certified aromatherapist and multisensory artist. Experience curated essential oils and a brief somatic meditation that invites subtle transformation through attentive smelling.

And if you bring a bottle of perfume that you no longer wish to use, you can add it to Andreas’ Perpetual Perfume Stew, a slush of mixed perfume, never emptied, slowly converging on the statistical center of mass of contemporary perfumery.

Fall into some olfactory art insanity this September 19th at @bushelcollective in Delhi NY. I will be sharing an excerpt from a musical work-in-process involving a terpene diety, a 19th century Florentine chemist and a few BDS etrogs. The sweet-smelling @kevinsheadrums will be joining me. Andreas Keller @olfactory_art_keller will be at the helm of his Perpetual Perfume Stew…bring your bottles to add to its “slow convergence on the statistical mass of contemporary perfumery.” Miriam Songster @gianttruffle will deliver a “tidy talk about fascism” and make a recipe from Marinetti’s Futurist cookbook, specially updated for our times. 4-7pm. Artificial intelligence is beginning to decode one of nature’s greatest mysteries: scent. In “Artificial Olfaction or Olfactory Intelligence?”, neuroscientist Andreas Keller explores how AI is transforming fragrance research, from predicting how molecules might smell before they are ever synthesized to helping create entirely new scent experiences.

The article is based on a panel discussion with M.Dougherty, Pablo Meyer Royas, and Sean Raspet. They spoke about how smell is unlike vision or sound and how it is deeply personal, shaped by genetics, memory, culture, and lived experience. Can a machine ever truly understand something so subjective, or will human perception always remain essential?

Blending neuroscience, perfumery, and artificial intelligence, Keller’s fascinating essay invites us to rethink creativity, perception, and the future relationship between humans, molecules, and intelligent machines.
