When I sing, I gather up my memories to tell a story.

Old joys. Old heartbreaks. Old fears. Old hopes.

I unfold them and weave them into a song.

That part comes naturally to me.

Wearing my heart on my sleeve comes naturally to me too.

Standing in front of a panel of judges after singing from that vulnerable place… that’s the part that’s scary.

That was the nature of the show, and I respect that.

And yet, I still choose to sing this way.

Because I know that out there, there are people listening with their hearts.

To be honest, after every performance, I looked forward to reading the messages from the audience.

Because while I felt observed, analysed, and evaluated on stage, in those messages, I felt seen.

I wasn’t just a contestant.

I was a person.

After unfolding so much of myself through a song, many of you helped me fold everything back up again.

Even when I stood alone on that stage, I could always feel all of you around me.

In many ways, all of you kept me sane during this journey.

Thank you for helping me hear the music through all the noise.🙂🙏💙

I feel everything.
And still,
I choose gentleness.

There is tenderness within calm.
There is awareness within pain.
Emotion can run deep —
without crossing the line.

This version of Ordinary Friend
comes from lived memory.

At the very least,
I am true to my own heart —
and to the music. 💙

I sing the way I do because I want you to feel safe enough to feel.
It’s alright—let your tears fall.
You’re safe with me. I’m right here, and I’m not going anywhere.

And sometimes… you give me that same space too.
You let me cry.
And in those moments, I feel understood. Thank you 🙏 💙

Dear Zi Qing,

This is truly one of the most thoughtful gifts I have ever received.

You rewrote the lyrics from your own heart, based on how you felt while listening to me sing. You created the AI visuals, searched through my past performances, cut the footage, edited everything together — and even when it came to the voice, you didn’t just find someone to sing it. You listened to and tested so many singers until you found the one you felt was right.

That kind of attention to detail says so much about the amount of thought, time and heart you poured into this.

To know that I get to accompany you on your drives means so much to me. Listening to music in the car has always been something I love too, so the thought that my voice and my songs can keep you company on those journeys feels very special.

You said that through my singing, you found your way back to yourself. But I want you to know that, in your own way, you have also helped me find my way back to mine.

Through your words, your encouragement and the way you listen so deeply, you constantly remind me to stay true to my heart whenever I step onto a stage.

You made me feel seen. You made me feel heard. And you made me feel understood.

And that means more to me than you probably realise. 🥹🙂🙏

I’m so thankful that music brought our paths together, and even more thankful for the care with which you have received my music and my heart.

Thank you, Zi Qing, for every little detail, every hour, every thought, and every bit of love that went into creating this for me.

And thank you for reminding me why I sing. I am thankful that it was music that blessed us with this friendship, big hugs 🙂🙇‍♂️🙏💙

Meeting my schoolmates again, and our HGS Primary School principal, Mrs Singh, really warmed my heart. 💙

We’re 46 now, but some of us first met when we were just 7 years old. Somehow, the moment we got together again, we became those little school girls all over again — laughing, playing and having fun like no time had passed.

Mrs Singh, thank you for guiding us, believing in us and loving us with all your heart. The imprint you left on all of us is something we still carry with us today. You are truly awesome — and forever the original Cool Girl! 😎💙

Seeing everyone happy, healthy and doing well in life made my heart very full. Some friendships, some teachers and some memories really do stay with you for life.

Once a Haig Girl, always a Haig Girl! Happy 75th Birthday to our dear school — our playground, our growing-up years, and a little piece of home that will always stay in our hearts. 🙂🙏💙 by @olindacho

It was also my pleasure to judge City Idol 2026 today. It was beautiful to witness so much passion, courage and genuine love for music on that stage. Watching everyone give a little piece of themselves through their songs reminded me why I love music so much — it brings people together. Thank you for having me, and for making my first experience as a judge such a warm and meaningful one.

And then I got to sing too. Without the band giving me the groove, the vibe and the feel, and without your warmth and interaction, I would merely be standing there singing to myself.

Music only truly comes alive when we share it.

To @rwsentosa , thank you so much for giving me this beautiful memory. 💙

I’m truly grateful for the opportunity to sing on your stage and to meet such an incredibly warm audience. The smiles, the responses, the energy coming back to me while I was singing — I felt all of it.

As a singer, there is no greater gift than an audience who listens with an open heart. Thank you for welcoming me so warmly. This is a memory I will keep for a very long time. 💙

And to @heepeehong , @jocieguo and @bonnieloo94 — I really, really enjoyed meeting you and sharing the stage with you.

What I loved most was the energy between us. Different singers, different styles, but I could feel that we all came with the same heart — we just wanted to give the audience a good show.

Pure respect, music, laughter and a really nice friendship that came out of it. 💙

Clarence has been part of my journey since Singapore Idol. 💙

Through all these years, he has been so much more than the person who does my makeup.

He is my friend.
My safe space.
The person closest to me in those quiet moments before I walk onto a stage.

He keeps the energy light when my mind gets heavy. He makes me laugh, settles me, and somehow I always leave his chair feeling a little more confident and a little more ready.

Yes, his hands work magic on my face 😂 — but it’s his presence that I carry with me onto that stage.

Some people don’t just prepare you for the spotlight.
They make you feel safe enough to step into it.

Thank you for being part of so many chapters of my life, Clarence.🙂💙
From Singapore Idol until today… you’re still right there before I step onstage. 💙

And that means more to me than you probably know. 么么哒，爱你哦！🙂💙

I am still able to get up
because there are good and kind people around me
who help raise me up. 💙
