Two weeks of rehearsals down for our new production of Philip Glass’ Satyagraha at @operadeparis and this production is unlike anything else I’ve ever been a part of, in the best way. This is a new kind of storytelling in the opera world - alchemy devised from equal parts of dance, music, theatre, and history. I have cried, felt ill, and smiled more times than I can count already.

The last few years have been INTENSE and I’m finally ready to share what’s been going on with the broader world. Meet @attunewitholivia 💛

Forever grateful to @michelleshapirord and @oliviaamitrano for their in-depth conversation about MCAS that allowed me to finally pinpoint what the H-E-double-hockey-sticks was wrong with me! Your candor has inspired me to share now myself.

⚡️ELEKTRA⚡️ in the Elphi! Blood curdling and electric (sorry, I had to) singing, playing, and leadership with a truly excellent cast + the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester + Alan Gilbert. Dreamy stuff. Or rather nightmarish, but in a good way? Andddd the Mägde were pretty darn tight, if I do say so myself 😉 Strauss always keeps you equally on your toes on stage as in the audience!

Thanksgiving is always a strange one as an expat. Sitting in this apartment in Cologne where the only festive items of the day included pumpkin spice oatmeal this morning and a trip to the cinema to see Wicked (somehow this felt like the most appropriate activity), I can admit that I’ve felt lonelier than I’d wish for today. Thanksgiving, given that is generally characterized by a sense of togetherness, highlights one demand of this job that I don’t particularly love: being away from loved ones too frequently. I know I’m at least not alone in feeling this way!

However, I’d be remiss to let the day pass without expressing my appreciation for the great expansion of my family that has taken place this year. Getting married is an experience of abundance in so many ways at once. I truly am so thankful to be so completely welcomed into the Mogg fold and for my family embracing Nick so warmly 🫶
