Bad Evening and Good Morning. Risograph, each composited from 8 letter-sized prints These two pieces are up now at @arcadiaexhibitions in the Harrison Gallery for my solo show, ‘Corner of My Eye’. Good Morning (second image) was made in 2023, reflecting on fractured visual fields and communicating over different time zones via the internet. This summer I expanded on the piece, incorporating sequence and storytelling across the exhibition. The result is Bad Evening (first image), where I’ve imagined a doomscroll and a more ominous FaceTime call as the result of an entire day spent looking at screens. This piece also inspired the plot of my new comic, Typhoon, which I’ll be selling at the Arcadia Zine Fest in a week! NEW COMIC ALERT! Typhoon will be debuting at @phillycomicsexpo next Saturday, October 10 from 10am-6pm. Printed in lovely teal on off-white paper, this little mini tells a story about witnessing climate disasters in the Philippines from online as part of the diaspora. The story is largely driven by imagery from my prints that are on display in ‘Corner of My Eye’ at @arcadiaexhibitions 🌀 I’ll also have it for sale at Arcadia Zine Fest on Oct 21 so you can see it with the original pieces! It was such a fun challenge to recontextualize and expand on images I had made over the past few years. I will also have this new work at @bkexpocomics in November and @phillyzinefest in December. by @oliviamfredricks

I had such a lovely time visiting Metropolitan Community College last week in Omaha. The first few images are a demo print I did for the riso class taught by @pennymolesso ⭐️, featuring a @risoinc machine. I have many of my large-scale riso graph prints up in the gallery at the Elkhorn campus in a solo exhibition called ‘Plazas’. If you’re in Nebraska, you can see it until Oct 13. It was such a pleasure to talk with all the students and faculty about art and share what I know about riso. I was also completely tickled by the video interview set up. It made me feel like such a celebrity! As per usual, I forgot to get photos of me actually doing these things, so I’m grateful there will be a record of my time there. Many thanks to @lc_burke for coordinating the exhibition and my visit. And a huge thanks to @pennymolesso for recommending me. by @oliviamfredricks

Two summer memories I wanted to record: playing mahjong (Filipino style obvi) indoors during the Canadian wildfire smog on the east coast and putting together @ikea furniture while watching the World Cup. Games were a big part of my summer. This is the first summer since graduating high school that I haven’t had a cross-country move, big international trip, or major life transition to contend with. It made mundanity feel even stranger. Anyways I’m excited for fall. by @oliviamfredricks

Another two phone call prints for ‘Corner of My Eye’ at @arcadiaexhibitions and an install shot of the phone call prints in context. We printed the background imagery on vinyl and installed the risographs on top. I wanted to expand on one of my previous prints (last image), showing more moments of conversation against a verdant backdrop and surrounded by a field of color. Two new riso prints for my solo exhibition, “Corner of My Eye” at @arcadiaexhibitions Harrison Gallery. These and other prints are on view until Nov 22, and I’ll be tabling at the 2nd annual Arcadia Zine Fest on Oct 21! It was so fun to spend the summer thinking through this show and riso-printing up a storm. Arcadia Exhibitions is pleased to announce that our newest exhibition, “Olivia Fredricks: Corner of My Eye” is currently on view in the Harrison Gallery now through November 22, 2026. The eighteen prints presented by the Philadelphia-based printmaker, graphic novelist, and educator in this exhibition represent Fredricks’ thematic focus on the activity of looking. These works depict the world as a series of fleeting or passing moments of seemingly innocuous human activity— but for the fact that the artist has deemed them worthy of documentation. @oliviamfredricks work reminds the viewer that the bulk of what we see as a part of our lived experience is made up of the mundane. Rather than facing this reality with existential dread, she chooses to celebrate what beauty can be found in the minutiae. This is clear from the playful, comic quality of her rendering, with its strong line work and bright colors. These moments are not monumental, but the artist conveys real joy in the noticing. While on campus, you can also visit “Sandy Williams IV: Bunker” in the Spruance Gallery and “Helen Maurene Cooper: Blue Angels” in Rosedale Gallery. Harrison and Rosedale Galleries in the University Commons is open M-F 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, and Saturdays 10:00 AM–4:00 PM. Spruance Gallery is open W-F 11:00 AM–4:00PM and Saturday and Sundays 12:00 PM–4:00 PM. A compilation of all of my riso animations from my reading of Companion in April (plus some still images from the comic that I thought were pretty). I tried to play with the vertical format of reels, resulting in this collagey thing. My online store is under construction but you can DM me to purchase a copy of the book! big ol THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Tadpole Collective release party on Friday! Here’s one of my fav animations I made for the reading along with its contact sheet. It was so cool to see the comic panels come to life! I plan to post all of them together sometime soon.
