We’re pretty good at showing what goes into our builds as they happen, but we’ve noticed we don’t show many completed.

So that’s exactly what we are going to do!

Over the next few weeks Olly will be visiting some of these gardens to show you how they look once we’ve left and handed the space back to you.

This one was one of our favourites from this year and was designed by the fantastic @adamveterelgd.

Last year was the first year in 5 that I didn’t tour on a bike. I can’t tell you how much I’ve missed it and how restorative it’s been. I feel alive, with real perspective and a clear head, something I’ve been unable to achieve in a while.

Everything benefits from these trips, my businesses, my relationships and my life outside of work.

Make the time, buy a motorbike, travel on it and visit parts of the world you’d never otherwise see.

I won’t miss a year again.

I’m unbelievably lucky to have had my grandparents in my life for so long. They’re from all over the world, very different and I value and respect their opinions and what they think of what I’m doing massively.

The last two years I’ve managed to get them to Chelsea for the flower show, flying one over from Zimbabwe and having the other driven up from Devon. Feels amazing knowing the work and suffering you go through in running a business can also bring your family together when they wouldn’t normally see each other.

All of our tiny margin goes to getting them together, which could arguably be spent better in the business, but without them the business wouldn’t exist, my staff wouldn’t have their jobs and we couldn’t support all the people we do.

I lost my grandad just before this year’s show which was tough, out of everyone in the family his considered opinion mattered the most when explaining my next idea. I had a lot of really not great stuff going on with work when he passed away which made me really resent the companies and seriously question what I was doing, but it’s those companies that allow me to go and spend so much time in Devon with my gran and helped to care for my grandad in his last weeks with us which I am so unbelievably grateful for.

Days disappear faster than anyone cares to admit, suddenly someone’s gone that you still had so much to tell. I know trying to run a business can be so consuming and it should be, but if there’s an opportunity to involve those who made it all possible, seize it.

Experiencing the world’s collide has been special, hopefully a reminder for anyone who needs it to make the effort to see your family, you’ll never regret it. taken in London, England by @ollyr_g

Spent the weekend down at the Chelsea Flower Show having a look around the setups and seeing the amount of work that goes into it all behind the scenes.

Some sleep is needed for it to all actually sink in I think!

The biggest and best part of my day to day is often this.

I can walk for hours without seeing anyone. Especially as the seasons turn, these walks fill me with clarity and inspiration I just don’t get when in the office surrounded by questions and pressure.

I’ve recently realised how important your time and headspace is as someone in a leadership and decision making role. A common belief is you have to be in the office and a constant presence to your team and I get that mindset but I do think it’s a naive one.

My staff and businesses benefit from these walks just as much as I do and in my case they respond well to the space and trust to just do their jobs.

I’ve been quiet on here, but I’ve been building.

I recently came out of a couple of deals that didn’t go ahead and for the first time I didn’t really know where to focus my energy. It’s an amazing position to be in to have various options and offers, but I’ve also come away completely burnt out and overwhelmed.

The forced reflection period when a plan doesn’t come together as you’d once thought it would is something you have to navigate often when you’re entrepreneurial. It can be tough but I never dwell in it long and am completely comfortable with a pivot.

The decision to refocus on and relaunch @hardwoodlandscapes wasn’t reactive but was well considered and pressure tested. It’s a tough industry to make a decent and consistent living but I love a challenge.

It’s also the perfect lifestyle business for me and operationally I have amazing people and systems in place so I’m able to fill my day with what I actually want to work on. Lifestyle businesses should come with exactly that, a lifestyle and for the first time I feel properly balanced with how I work. I’m off the gas and having fun, making my businesses resilient and consistent and allocating big chunks of my days to me which I’m loving.

Hardwood is relaunching with a mission and vision which it hasn’t had before. I’m deeply passionate about the industry, the people in it and the impact it can have on people’s lives. Every decision we make and job we do will be aligned with that and it’s time to really build a portfolio I’m proud of.

It’s a company I started with no clue what I was doing, no plan, no intention, no structure or knowledge of anything business related, I simply enjoyed working for myself more than working for someone else.

@silverback.agency are helping with mine and the businesses brands and online presence whilst building our new website and it will be the best in our industry. That’s because we will be the best in our industry, nobody will be able to deliver what we do better or give a better service to their clients.

The master at work.

I loved working with @triplecpaintwork who was introduced to me by @triumphwestlondon.

Choosing your colours from swatches just feels like an impossible task but I got there in the end with Mike’s guidance.

Old Honda colours have never looked so good!

My new bike, a commitment to more for me, selfish decisions, and opting to take the longer, slower way home a whole lot more.

There have been some incredible people and brands involved who we will introduce and showcase in the coming days/weeks/months!

Huge thanks to @triumphwestlondon and @triplecpaintwork for working with me on this! Who knew Honda colours would look so good on a Triumph.

@hitchcoxmotorcycles have also made sure the soundtrack really does ensure I can’t think of anything else whilst on it.

This page will be my creative outlet having fun with what makes me happy, looking forward to sharing it all!
