We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our short film “A Beauty Supply in Queens” will be making its world premiere at the prestigious Oscars qualifying American Black Film Festival in Miami. This selection is even more special because we are 1 of 5 films nominated for the HBO Awards showcase. This is the same award that launched the careers of many filmmakers that I admire like Ryan Coogler, Nikyatu Jusu and so on.

When @adeniketv first sent me the script for this film and asked if I would be interested in directing it, I immediately said yes because this story is so relevant and so powerful. It is one of those stories that as a filmmaker, you hope to fall on your laps.

The foundation was already solid but this film won’t have been possible without @carolinechikezie who plays the lead role of Ms. Aji. It was so difficult to find the right actor for such a challenging role and when @carolinechikezie agreed to join us on this project, I was in total shock because this is Noma from Power series telling us she’s going to be in our short film. @carolinechikezie delivers a fantastic performance in this film and it was also a pleasure working with her and learning from her. This was also my first time directing a full cast of talented SAG actors like @clemcheung @adeniketv @avatarwaang @jawngella @alemany_nxo

Thank you to everyone who worked on this short with me. Especially my brilliant cinematographer @clear_soup whose work continues to astonish me. Thank you to @_chidiogo_ who held this production together and without her we would have struggled. Thank you to my 1st Ad @ivoryjarel who held it down and finally thank you to my Editor Matthew Gelzer who worked on this film for a whole year. I’m forever grateful to every single one of you including many talented people not mentioned here who worked very hard to make this dream come true.

Thank you to my amazing family for their love and support and for always believing in me.
