Meet Elizabeth, one of the co-founders, choreographers and President of the Phayanak Dance Crew 🐉

For our cultural photoshoot, Elizabeth is wearing modern Lao ceremonial attire. This style is a great example of how traditional Lao clothing has evolved. While the sinh has been worn for centuries, the gold crossover blouse is a relatively modern interpretation inspired by royal and ceremonial fashion. Historically, everyday Lao clothing relied more on woven patterns than heavy embroidery. Over time, the ornate gold embroidery became especially popular in ceremonial wear and bridal fashion.

Outside of dance, she enjoys competitive sports and games while also supporting family, friends, and the community. Fun fact: she is a first-generation Lao American and the youngest of eight siblings. She also hosted and emcee’d for Suwanee Asian Festival!

More member introductions to come, so stay tuned! ✨
