Quite an intense last minute weekend away in two countries: Albania and Kosovo, was a bit knackered the day I came back! My thoughts on Tirana was…meh. It’s alright. But Kosovo I liked. I definitely want to go back to do some hiking!

Summer hiking tips especially when hiking in the evenings:
Always car try enough food and water, carry extra layers, share your route, carry a head torch and share your route, head back before dark.

Only 30 mins from Liverpool, the Sandstone Trail spans Cheshire and North Wales. I done the Frodsham circular and I wouldn’t recommend to beginners or children: it’s overgrown and hazardous in parts. Dog walkers also advised to be cautious. If you do it, wear pants!

Thank you for joining me in the lead up to my 35th birthday. Wow, can’t believe I’m in the ‘mid-thirties’ club! Really don’t feel like it. This is the fittest and most active I’ve ever been and weirdly, the youngest I’ve felt. InshaAllah it continues the year ahead. I have lots of reflections but will save for another time.

Baked my favourite cake for my birthday. I don’t make this cake often because the ingredients are kinda expensive. I started making it about 10 years ago and it became of my and my family’s favourite. I saw a recipe for a pistachio cake and another for a white chocolate and raspberry cake and decided to combine them and yep, amazing combo. With mascarpone filling, yum.

I always use frozen raspberries but couldn’t find any and then randomly found tinned raspberries in the baking isle. Yuk. Never again.
