Hosted by @lightonlotus and all online, this workshop is open to anyone. You’ll learn how to structure a kids class, how to consider “classroom management” with yoga and get a solid intro on sharing tools like asana and breathe in with kids ages 4–12. As a kids yoga teacher, I know the magic of a just-for-kids yoga mat.

Not only do they provide a non-slip surface for balancing and a cushy texture for the inevitable fall, they make a vivid visual marker of personal space. This lets small practitioners learn the power of having autonomy, boundaries, and a space all to themselves as they come to understand where their bodies can go. They essentially denote a personal world all their own.

There are many ways we focus on sharing tools for feeling safe in the kids yoga teacher training! Too much to list in a simple caption, but some small steps include…
🩷
1) focus on grounding. 🤍This can include more moments of stillness, a longer concluding rest, focusing on the exhale, and focusing on the feet! The seat! when guiding postures.

2) let kids feel heard. Let your students give feedback and hear them. Suggest that they share a shape. Having an interactive class allows students to feel their value and feel safe with you.

3) educate yourself on what it means to create a trauma informed classroom. Educate yourself and meditate on ways to bring safety into the classroom by modeling, and by having a few key rules… Hot topics include touch and adjustments in the kids yoga classroom, and creating a space where you are a leader, but not a boss. 🤍 More info in our teacher training :-) but food for thought!
