As the first step into training to be a technocrat and maybe begin a consulting career in the Nigerian Legislative Arm and serve as a lobbyist, I am thrilled to announce that I'll be a guest for the next few weeks of the RT. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, @speakergbaja , Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria (9th Assembly), as an inaugural fellow of the Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) @officiallmi_ng About the LMI Recall that in 2020, I had published an article with project1000 team @saint_win and @dexter.joe, calling for a need for legislators in Northen Cross River (House of Assembly, House of Reps, and the Senate) to set up a think tank of young people who would help research the challenges of local communities and proffer long term / sustainable solutions to then and go onto implementing these solutions. (link in bio)This is what project1000 started out to be until a few critical stakeholders decided to go full-on political, which still works as we can all not be in the same boat should we sink; we'll have rescuers. But as always, we young people are cursed with running too fast and often not listening to the sound reason. Thus the need for continuous brainstorming, consultations, and fellowship as young united people.I hope that my time learning from the LMI Team and LMI fellows will allow me to regroup with the Cross River State and Yala Urban professionals to see how we could set up think tanks to support our political leaders in delivering the dividends of democracy to our local communities. I am particularly humbled by the carefully selected fellows across the 36 states of Nigeria, including the FTC, and a few fellows from the diaspora. This is not a happily ever story; let's face it, life is hard! God’s Grace makes it easier. For the past 24 months, I have provided research and communications support to the @milyouthalliance In 2019, I began working unofficially at the @milyouthalliance as the ambassador's coordinator, where I worked with the first set of @milyouthalliance ambassadors, which included incredible young people from five regions of the world. See list here; https://lnkd.in/eGw4MDJAPrior to these, I volunteered for the @milyouthalliance, then known as the Global Alliance for Partnerships on Media and Information Literacy (GAPMIL) Youth Steering Committee, from 2018 to 2019, supporting the committee led by my boss @danwaeze . This was regular work (5 to 6 hours per day) with no pay.Take-home:1. I have always lived and advocated for young people to use their twenty-something to volunteer, acquire skills, build networks, learn, develop capacities in their respective areas of interest, and try out as many things as possible to discover what makes them most fulfilled. 2. Building a network is more than just meeting people. Building a network is a conscious commitment to bringing value, continually engaging, and striving for a mutually beneficial relationship with people you meet, friends, colleagues, mentors, etc. 3. I urge young people in Africa to keep showing up consistently, put in the effort, work hard, and never stop learning, sharing, and expanding their network because when it comes down to it, they are what you will need to rely on in this cycle of mystery we call life. 4. Having a sparring partner is also beneficial during this phase of development and self-discovery. I will always be grateful to Daniel Nwaeze for taking a big chance on me despite my abundance of wahala.5. The above does not guarantee that you will "make it" (because even this morning, I got a 20k loan from my brothers @ogar_joshua and another 30k from @saint_win for this week's logistics (feeding lol) and mobile data, but two of them no know lol) but it would sure position you for many, many exciting opportunities that would follow to help you grow into all that God made you be. by @onahdough

Funny how plans change.[full video on YouTube]I had originally written a goodwill message for my sister to include in the commemorative magazine for my in-laws Professorial Thanksgiving Celebration.Then she called and say they’re not doing a magazine. “Just record a video.” Like say na so e say to sit in front of camera 😂Anyways, only problem was... I had literally just gotten home from work.So I did what any serious media professional would do. Set my bad down and jumped in the shower.No...no... I shaved my head first and even broke my bonnet brush trying to make this shine you see pop with Aboniki, thanks to @emediong_aa 😂Then I set up my camera.Hit record.One take.Six minutes.Done.Turns out, the past few weeks of self interviews, presentations, podcasting, and years of communications work have prepared me for moments like this.So… I guess I’ve accidentally acquired a new hustle like this now so 😂If you need a birthday shout-out, A congratulatory message? ⚠️ Security concerns continue to affect and impact travel across many parts of Nigeria and will continue to be so into the coming election year. They are counting on that so you can't vote. They also will continuebwhat they did in 2023, to intimidate voters who vote in unfamiliar places or places they haven't been in a long long time! We saw this on camera in 2023!
